Car history and modifications with drag strip results:
Fall of 1998
I bought the car with 82k on the odometer for $6500. It was very slow when i bought it. The distributor shaft had some play in it, and timing was retarded. I couldn't even smoke the tires! I fixed the problem and put new plugs and wires in. I also changed the oil and used Mobil 1 synthetic 5W-30, and a treatment of Duralube. I honestly believe these products are the best, and is a reason this motor is still running strong. The car ran in the 14.90-15.0 sec @ 90's mph range.i had a 3.42 rear gear. (2.4 60' times)
Spring of 1999
I stored the car all winter and saved up for a 3" cat-back Dynomax stainless Ultraflow exhaust system.(this exhaust is still working great and sounds better now than when i installed it) I also installed a 3.73 ring and pinion and MSD 6AL ignition with a 160 hypertech thermostat and coil. The car ran 14.60's to 14.70's @ 94 mph. (2.3 60'times)
Summer 1999
I installed a custom PROM from TPIS and was running 14.40's
i broke the ring and pinion and dropped a set of 4.10's in. I put in a B&M shift kit and shifter, 52mm BBK throttle body. This combo made it run 14.30's consistantly. 14.28 once. (2.10 60' times)
Spring 2000
I scored some edelbrock headers for $100 off ebay without the smog tubes. I did the smog pump delete and straight piped the cats. I also added Lakewood traction action control arms, since i was starting to experience wheel hop. This put me in the 14.10 range.(2.0 60' times)
Summer 2000
I broke the rear again, and opted for 3.73's since this was my daily driver and gas was getting expensive. I added a 150 HP NOS kit and ran 13.10's.. On the motor i ran in the upper 14.20's consistantly.
Fall 2000
I rigged up a homemade bottle heater and turned a 12.75 @109 mph. I broke the rear end once again and let it sit until spring
Spring 2001
With a fresh set of 4.10 gears, I ran a 13.88 @ 100 mph. I was happy to kill that 14.0 barrier.
Summer 2001
I ran a best of 12.56 @ 111 mph on nitrous. 1.98 60' time.
Spring 2002
I gave the car a tune-up with new bosch platinum 4 pronger plugs and Taylor 8.8mm wires. I also started using Kumho Supra ecsta 712 P255 50ZR16 on the rear. These tires hook great for the street, and only cost $87 each from www.tirerack.com !!!!
I ran a consistant 13.70's and one "fluke" run of 13.52 on the motor. I ran 1.90's 60' time..
Summer 2002
I couldn't improve the times on just motor, but i ran a record best 12.34 @ 112mph on the juice with a 1.89 60' time.
Spring 2003
broke the posi and blew the whole rear. I was driving normal too?!?!
i let it sit until july.
Summer 2003
new 28 spline axles, Eaton posi, Strange 4.10's, Jegs reinforced cover, upgraded shims and bearings...
I didn't race it this summer on the strip... I did aquire a new G-Tech and clocked 4 runs of 13.27 @107mph.... I know this is optimistic but i would guess 13.50's at the strip.
Spring 2004
90/10 drag struts in front. 50/50 drag shocks in back. I installed a strut tower brace and Spohn sub frame connectors. This car rides so much better and launches so hard! It is as stiff as a board!!!
June 18th 2004
Went to the track and ran 1.87 3 times in my 60'. I was consistantly in the 13.60's and 12.40's on bottle. This track (Great lakes dragaway) is a bit slower on average compared to Byron dragway, so im guessing maybe a 13.4 or a 12.2 on my next outing. Im not sure i will reach my goal of 11.99 on my stock motor... we'll see
June 11th 2005
I went to Tri-State raceway and ran 13.50 at 102mph on motor and a 12.30 at 113 with the NOS... My 60' times were all in the 1.9's with a best of 1.83... I am pleased:)
Heres me smoking a poor TA

This is a handicapped bracket race where the slower car (Stang) gets to leave first. Look how i real him in and pass him. I let off so i didn't break out.. 12.6 @ 96mph would have been 12.3 @112

Spring of 2006
I did a tune-up using an accel ignition module, MSD 8.5mm wires, and some NGK Iridium plugs. Im going to test it with the G-Tech soon...
Heres a link to my latest race
