I installed a new fuel pump on March 11. I suspected that the fuel regulator that was lowering the tii pump's pressure was not lowering it enough for a Weber carburetor. DCOEs require about 2 to 3 psi. If the fuel pressure is greater than this then the fuel will leak out of the carburetor at idle. Although the bmw ran, it did not run well.
The old fuel pump is on the left and the fuel filter is on the right.
I bought a new pump at Autozone for $30. It was not difficult to remove the old pump and install the new one. I left the regulator on and it measured 3 psi.
