I am a high school senior from Massachusetts. On my way to school one day I saw this car sitting on the side of the road with a for sale sign on it. By the next week it was mine. It is a 1972 BMW 2002tii with a 76' non-tii engine.
I made it my senior project to restore and then race the car. I hope to race it in autocross this spring. Before I do, I need to get it running reliably. I have done some ice racing already and that was a lot of fun. Unfortunately the Bimmer was not running at the time and I had to race in my Bronco. It was not the best vehicle for ice racing but I did beat a couple WRXs in my class.
To prepare it for autocross I have installed a single side draft 45 DCOE; Ireland Engineering coil overs, springs and adj. camber plates; Bilstein sports; and I will be installing a 40% lockup LSD from an E21 in a few weeks.
I will be buying a 22mm adj. rear sway bar (it already has a 22mm bar in the front). I am thinking about buying an E12 cylinder head and tii pistons. If I buy the head and pistons then I will get a camshaft regrind to either 292 or 300 degrees.
