Problems and Other Stuff
========================================
Just wanted to list issues and problems I'm having as I work on building my Miata up.
Thompson Relocation Kit
-----------------------------------------
While the kit is just pure sex on looks... there are issues that users needs to pay attention to. The SS-lines are real abrasive and will eat away at anything metal. Here's a nice picture of my low and high pressure A/C lines after 3000 miles.
While I did use the protective wrap that came with it, I feel that the whole section of the SS line should be cover. So after repairing the AC line ($100 used for both at local Mazda recycle yard), I protected the whole section from the engine side to the relcation point.
I'll probably be making a part from sheet-metal to completely block the hose from anything.
Blowing Fuse
-----------------------------------------
As I work on the Miata, one thing I notice is how much AMP I draw from the original power leads. The Miata has one major downfall... it does not have the battery in the engine bay like most cars, it's in the trunk. So many, many people tap into existing power lead for their headlights, ABS, foglights, etc.
The other problem is that Mazda rate there power leads right on the money, so if you try to draw too much power from a 15A line, you'll blow the fuse. And adding a bigger amp fuse in it's place will cause the leads to heat up and maybe catch fire. So the only way around this is by running a pure power line from the battery into the engine bay fo power taps.
I address this problem else where on this site.
