Hot Dog "Double Diagonal" Roll Bar
========================================

The following is a write up on a rollbar install. This is a REAL rollbar and not a style-bar. While style-bar have its place, for a ragtop... a real rollbar is better at protecting your head.

I ordered my rollbar directly from Bethania Garage Inc. After looking at all the styles, I settled for the M2 Hard-Core with Double Diagonal. Heres the package as it was delivered from BGI. The packaging was real nice and UPS actually kept it in one piece.

First thing first, double check your package and make sure you have all the bolts and nuts, and washers. The instruction that came with the bar was good, but online help from Miata.net will help a little. Before starting, I highly recommend removing the two seats it will make your install life easier.

When you are ready to start, the first thing is getting the carpeting off the rear deck. You need to remove the plastic snap-caps holding the carpeting to the soft-top inner lip. After the carpeting if off the rear deck, start removing the plastic trim and everything else that needs to get out of the way. In no practical order metal deck lid, seatbelt bolt & seatbelt housing, plastic trim, windblock trim, door trimming, and side striker plate.

When you are done, you should have something like whats pictured above. I also found that unplugging the wiring harness on the right side to be helpful in fitting the rollbar.

After that, test the rollbar for fitting issue and see if everything lines up. If the rollbar fits, everything should line up and sitting correctly like the above picture.

Here you see the wiring harness unplugged for fitting.

Some more picture of the fitting. If fitting looks good, bolt the seatbelt housing & bracket back in place.

The holes should line up correct and allow the rollbar to be bolted in with the seatbelt bracket. Make sure your seatbelt housing is lined up correctly before bolting the rollbar into place because you wont be dealing with the housing after this.

I owe you a tip. get the yellow LED (has 4 leds)wedge bulbs for your sidemarkers from autozone. They are really crisp and clean looking. I have them on my vette and they were better than I had hoped. I owed you this cause I needed your annodizing info :) didnt look through the rest of your pages but cool site!

Hey man! I just gotta say, your site is probably one of the best do it yourself pages I have seen. I had been thinking about making a air-box around my intake, but wasn't sure how to do it, but your page showed me a lot, and now I am all geared up to take on the task! Thanks so much! Your Miata is looking good! Come check out my Civic sometime and tell me what you think. Also, there is a link at the top of all my pages for a message board that I am a member of, It isn't very big yet, but I really think you'd fit right in! Thanks again! L8R! Punk Dexter
