I just started this web-site. I got this car from my step-father in August of 2003. I am in the process of starting to restore it. I plan on painting this car in the next two months, sanding the rims and repainting them. You can't tell by these pictures but the paint is really faded. Email me if you have any ideas.

Has anybody had a problem with their hood locking? Mine won't close or lock

brownhornetbeb's 1985 Mercedes-Benz D-Class The paint on the trunk is faded. This is a result of years of being left in the elements.

It is all original chrome, minus the front grill, all emblems, and wheel-well trim. The mid-fender molding's are original, if you will, but are from a donor 300D I stripped some parts from. There are businesses that will polish your chrome, so try to look one up in your area. I tried polishing it myself using multiple chemicals/substances and was never very successfull. On a sidenote, take a long good look at your chrome the way it is before polishing it. It may be have faded to a whitish color that REALLY stands out in the shade and is still shiny in sunlight. In that case, you may want to contemplate just leaving it the way it is. I do not mind you using my ideas, just give credit where credit is due. If you are referring to the blacked headlight doors and grill inserts, do not use trashy paints or you'll regret it later. I suggest covering the headlight doors w/a clearcoat that can be waxed like the rest of the car
