Shortly after buying my 411, I took a trip to see Mike Young in Clearlake, CA. He's not just a Datsun Roadster guy; he's also knowledgeable about all the old Datsuns. In fact, he wanted to buy my car before I got it but the seller wouldn't lower the price.

Here's what the engine looked like at that time, with the J13 and Nikki 2bbl downdraft carb.
Here's what it looked like after the J15 was installed, with dual HS4 SUs and a jury-rigged brake master cylinder. Even though the master cylinder didn't hit the carb, there still wasn't enough room for the air cleaner to fit without squishing it.
And finally, here is how it looks today with a Weber DGV and the original brake master cylinder reinstalled.
