this is my dads 1957 4 door bel air wagon. it runs a very mild 327ci small block chev with a 500cfm 2 barrel holly and small cam. the transmision is a fully manualised 2 speed powerglide with a 1500rpm stall converter, as for the diff we think it is a 3.55.1 or 3.7.1 nine inch. the interior is basically standard and the radio is still playing out of the original dash speaker. the exterior of the car is all detailed including the undercarage.i will be adding more info about FAT57 in a few days but for now tell me wat u think of her.

Hi Craig, I understand that there is a formula to calculate the maximum motor size for a "light vehicle". It is the weight X 0.294 for normally aspirated cars. A V8 Torana weighs 1183kgs, so by applying this formula, the max capacity is 347 cu in. Get a weighbridge certificate for the engineer - load the boot up, full tank of fuel etc to get a heavier weight, and that should do. Also, the ADR's require emmissions to that of the substitute engine. Be careful of a late model motor - you'll probably have to keep the ECU and even add cats to achieve this. My car was engineered with a Chev 350 / Ford Toploader in 1998 before it's latest rebuild by Lindsay Randall of Marsden Mechanical, 11 Chambers Flat Rd., Marsden 4132. Wish you luck with your project - keep me posted. Regards, Ian
