Lastly, the sound system. I have a JVC CD Player head unit, 4 6.5 inch infinity speakers, an 800 watt kenwood amp, and 2 12" 1000 watt max Infinity subs. Not much to look at, but they pound out some crazy noise.

I also have a Ractive muffler and a 2" cat-back system.

I'm gonna be serious, your being stupid if your gonna try to do anything to that engine. I think you should do this. Go to the nearest authorized GM dealer, get a catalog for GM performance parts, also get the dimensions for the Ecotec engine, It might be a tight squeeze and require some modification to the mounts, but it might work. Don't forget you transmission, make sure you'd be able to hook it up. Might not be easy, but if you want power that is what you'll have to do.
