Update 10-31-09:  Well I finally got the hood finished thanks in huge part to Bret Bouge at Mountaineer Campers for shooting the paint for me.  I realized that I didn't want to tackle this big of a job with as little experience paintng as I have.  I have a couple of pics from the 3rd annual AZMC "tri-State" meet in Laughlin, but they don't show off the spoiler very well, I'll get out in the next couple of weeks and get a photoshoot done to post more pics, for now...Enjoy!

Update 9-1-09:   Working on re-painting the CF hood since the CF is developing ghosts in the clear coat I decided that it is eventually going to go flat black.  Last weekend I got started, the actual painting will take place in the coming weeks.  ere are some pics for now.

Update 5-31-09:   The engine rebuild finally took place.  We started about 9PM Friday 5-29-09, it took us just over 24 hours to pull the engine, tear it down rebuild the bottom end and reinstall it.  There were no major hiccups other than a moment while reinstalling the clutch where I snapped off one of the bolts, but it ended up coming out pretty easily with the application of heat.  Here are all of the pics from the rebuild...Enjoy.

Update 5-18-09:   Well the inevitable happened.  Due to a misdesign in the oiling system, in a high G left hand turn the 4th cylinder doesn't get oil.  Last Saturday during an AutoX session I developed rod knock, I have ordered the parts and hope to be rebuilding the engine in the next week or so, there will definately be pics of that.  For now, here are the pics from the raceday that I broke the engine...sucks too on the run that I got rod knock I had taken 3 seconds off my time...lame.

Update 02-28-09:   We had the second Annual UMS/AZMC Dyno day hosted by our buddies at UMS tuning in Mesa, AZ.  While there were plenty of high horsepower rides on hand, I am pleased to annouce that the Prote clocked in a respectable 120.9whp (stock was 95whp).   My last dyno run a couple of years ago was 105whp, since then I have added the new intake manifold and the headers which resulted in the gains that were seen today.  Note: Torque isn't correct for some reason, and I am in no way familiar with the software, so I just leave it as is.

Update 10-27-08:

I converted the Prote from 4 lug to 5 lug using parts from a friends wrecked Protege5. other than forgetting to swap the rear lateral links for a couple of days, the swap went smooth and easy. The new rims are Motegi SP10's with NItto Neo-Gens

Did a run down to Tucson on 8-8-08, one of our members snapped a couple pics of our cars at Tyndall garage at UofA while we were down there, also got some of the Phoenix convoy while we were driving.

Update 7-31-08: It's been forever since I even looked at my CarDomain page. Let's see, since the last up date the car has undergone a bunch of changes. I removed the "Ricer stripes" on the sides of the car, blacked out the rims, and swapped on a carbon fiber hood that was painted to match the car.

I also added some more go fast goodies to the car. I have added a cast aluminum single runner intake manifold off of an older Mazda 626, and I finally got around to buying a real CAI instead of the rigged one that I ran forever. One of the other modifications that was made was a custom painted valve cover.

I've also taken up Autocross with the car. I have attached a couple pics of the last few events that I had competed in.
