23.MAR.07 I'm amazed at how quickly the time fly's! I have done a few more things to my mercedes.

- 18" x 8.5" Lorinser alloys with 225/40r18 tyres.
- Installed 4ch Coustic amp
- Installed VR 6.5" splits in front
- Lowered 2" with Koni springs

I have a few more ideas that I will update if/when i get around to them :)

10.NOV.06 Well a lot has happened since last up date. Here is a summary

- I installed a black rear lip
- I installed power windows
- I got my car back from the panel beaters after I was hit and the car looks better than ever
- I installed my foglights
- I SOLD the car!!!!!!

Thats right, I sold the mirage, I loved owning this car SO much but it was time to move onto something else!

8.FEB.06 Installed the remote central locking, took about 4 hours and it came up a treat, and then when i finished my foglights came by courier, nice. Gotta buy a dremel to cut the bumper with to install these new foglights! should look awesome!

Things I've just done on the car -

Install short shifter - DONE
Cut short shifter shorter - DONE
Install remote central locking - DONE

Just Purchased -

Front Foglights
Power window kit

Wil be installing these really soon, look for a tutorial on the power window install!

3.FEB.06 I dont believe its been so long again!!! Update:-

- I bought some Coilovers, they were installed in the car in about November 05 and i slammed it down...looked so awesome but the ride was way too stiff for me! I swapped em out and put the king springs back in, sits higher now but is smoother.
- I am hesitently planning on throwing in some Jumboz 3" springs to see how they go
- I got sideswiped by a 4WD so the drivers side of my car got scraped up, that is getting fixed now as we speak, door, both side skirts, rear quarter and back bumper all getting resprayed and *hopefully graphics put back on!
- Thinking about some rims again, maybe 17's this time, fat chrome ones or just silver i dunno....either rims or shave my handles and rear hatch instead?!

23.AUG.05 - I dont believe its been so long since an update! nearly 1 whole year! oh my! Update :-

- Well I've sold my 16" rims and put my black steelies back on
- I have taken the rear wiper off and taken the stickers off the car
- I have put a new sticker on the windscreen of the company I work for
- I have installed some DTM side mirrors
- I got busted for having my exhaust as its too loud, so that got quietened down but Ive just recently had the silencer cut out so it nice and LOUD again!
- Bought a front lip but it doesnt fit so I selling that at the moment

Future :-

- I may do the interior, just changing the fabric of the seats to a tweed....
- Short shifter maybe
- Coilovers would be great so I can slam this thing!
- Rear lip would be great

20.JUL.04 - Decided against the merc....too afraid of maintenance costs....Im going to give spending money on the car a break for a while i think....gotta save up a heap for insurance in a few months and its about time i started buying myself some other goodies un car related.

18.JUL.04 - Well I have a chance to buy a great Merc - 1987 190e 2.6l 6cyl, full electrics incl. sunroof, cruise control, abs, auto, full service history for $8,000 of a work mates dad..and this an awesome price! insurance values it at 16,000.....hhmmmm decisions decisions, only concern is maintenance...

15.JUL.04 - Hey there, car is going well, washing it VERY regularly! Im looking into getting some rims, perhaps some black 15" or 17s if i can find a good deal. Here is a shot of the new boot install....

25.JUN.04 - Ive done the boot install change....so its camoflauge now, looking pretty nice i rekon, I will put some photos up tomorrow:)

26.JUN.04 - Well, long time since last update, Ive been really busy putting my latest range together for uni. But im on holidays now and can think about the car again! Im planning on putting on a front lip...this is the one Im thinking of

I would probably paint it black and have it match the graphics.....if I decide to I could always change it to body colour later on...

Other news: My cousin is coming back from O/S soon and we are gonna be looking for a ride for him soon....that should be fun..maybe an old school charade...have to wait and see what hes thinkin

Im also planning some changes for the boot install, looking into a camouflage theme....more over the next two weeks:)

25.MAY.04 - Mirage has new tyres, lowered springs and full exhaust now fitted. Im really happy with the results:) So the car is DONE!! .......for now.....

Some extra things ive done are - Smoked taillights, new gearknob, Jr Autoconcept logos, repainted black wheels, 1 wiper conversion:)

17.MAY.04 - I have booked the car in to get lowered on Friday 21st MAY and then its getting new tyres - Olympic Marathons - on Saturday 22nd MAY and then getting full 2" cat-back exhaust on Tuesday 25th MAY... So its a Busy schedule for the mirage this coming week:) I have also ordered a few stickers from my auto shop that did the tint - Jr Auto Concept. Its just of their logo for the back window and inside the boot:)

09.MAY.04 - Picked the car up from its tint today.....looks really good, im happy with it:)

06.MAY.04 - Been a while since last update:) I have been busy with uni - Working with adidas Australia to develop a range in a sport/street style for my final year of my Fashion Design degree..very busy stuff

In terms of the car Im basically waiting 2 weeks until my insurance is updated and Ill be able to install the muffler and springs..The car is booked in for a 20% tint on Saturday 8th MAY and will also get a tint sunstrip at the same time...Should look very nice..Pics once done:) CHECK OUT MY NEW PAGE 7 :)

25.APR.04 - I went to do the other side of graphics today and boy did it stuff up! Showed me how easy it is to do wrong, i cant believe the other side worked so well!! Ill have to give it another try soon cos ive taken this off ... its way to messy.

You'll notice the ripples, bumps and air bubbles, and poor edges...very crap stuff. he he:)

17.APR.04 - Im deciding on a few option to add to the graphics...i love the black but it would be fun to add a bit more...i can always take it away huh..:) Here is a quick pic i did on the comp. of the design i may do...
I also got my Front lowered springs today, ill have them put in within the month...Next on the agenda will prob be a 20% Tint to shade those horribly clear windows!! then ill look into slappin on a tasty sunstrip for the windscreen...

15.APR.04 - The XForce muffler I ordered from ebay arrived today, and it looks damn nice...ill get it put on the car soon....Saved over $110AUS off retail buying it from ebay...its brand new too

12.APR.04 - Final Stage is underway - putting the grafix on the car! I got the black sticker and cut out the pieces i traced off the car...put them on one side of the car and after about 6 hours i finished that side, very slow and exacting process, i learnt a lot from doing this and i am very happy with the results!! Custom graphics for a grand total of AUS$70 - sweet

05.APR.04 - Today I ordered the front Kings Springs (alrady have the back) and I ordered some Black vinyl to do the graphics with and also ordered some slimline plates - looking forward to getting stuck into putting all this onto the car...

03.APR.04 - I decided to take the amber plastic dome out of my front headlight indicator....not easy! it was a real bitch to do and ill put up a pic soon :) i prob wouldnt recommend it but it does look nice....

here are the pics, before and after, looks nice now i rekon - I am using Phillips SilverVision bulbs that are chrome but flash orange - dont buy any other brand as they are not bright enough - Phillips rock...

To take out the amber bulb I took out the indicator, drilled a hole through the back opening into the end of the orange dome and then got some needle nose pliers in the to slowly crack the plastic into little pieces and shake em out, didnt go quite to plan but I say good luck if you decide to try it! It is well worth it in my opinion tho.....:)

28.MAR.04 - I used Meguirs Swirl reducer 2.0 on the mirage today, it had some swirl marks form some fool that did a cut n polish - and it came up really well after applying this...heres a pic

28.MAR.04 - Here are some pics of the doors and stuff, i coated all inside the cavity and most of the outside, ill go back in to completely coat it....and im gonna put more in the back too..

27.MAR.04 - I sound deadened the car today, with tar backed metal flashing stuff, worked really nicely, good fun pulling the car apart....i might add more to the back quarters tho as i didnt put much in there, come to think of it i may put some more in the doors too....noticable imporvement tho, much richer and cleaner sounding, and basically no rattles PICS UP 2MORO 28TH

21.mar.04 - Sold my old sub and amp this weekend so I ll be ordering some black slimline number plates this week. UPDATE - black plates are too expensive at $310 so im not gonna bother....

15.MAR.04 - Ive put both skirts on now - and Ive sprayed one steel rim black, 3 to go, should look sweet when I put the King Springs in. Pix on Page 6

23.FEB.04 - NEXT PROJECT - Adding a mirrored panel to the lower portion of the boot install, it will sit on the graffiti and have a word on it, Im thinking of 'EJ Audio' - My initials, seeing as though i did the install....or maybe 'NCD Mirage' hhmmmm Girlfriends bro is a glass cutter so he will get it for me free....

My name is Edward and Im from Melbourne Australia...Im a Fashion Design student and live at home with my parents, although I probably spend more time at my girlfriends house. I love cars and have some plans for the Mirage....I am working on it slowly..

Well, I bought a 1996 Mitsubishi Mirage to replace my old Camira Wagon. I needed something reliable and cheap to run....

One of my all time favorites is the Mercedes 190e so this was the car I initially looked for, I found a perfect one and was ready to do a trade in however got nerves the night before about not being able to afford repairs etc. so I pulled out and 1 week later had a Mirage in the Driveway...

This is the car at the dealership, very stock! I will slowly be changing this...

This is the car when I got it home, I immediately took off both the Mitsubishi and Mirage sticker that was on the back hatch....i hate badges....ha ha I plan on painting the center red Mitsubishi logo black soon too.

I will incorporate a black theme which will start to emerge in the near future and add a nice contrast to the boot install...

First of all for the Mirage I am putting a stereo in...

Out of my old car I was able to transfer in some 5.5" Phillips Splits,

if you turn your head you can see the tweeter up on the dash

and some Kenwood 6" 3way speakers.

Ive got the rear Kenwoods running off the Sony Headunit - just a entry level....but it has a remote (very handy)

The splits are running off a Sony XM-444 as well as a Fusion 12 sub.

Im very happy with the stereo as in all i only spent about AU$1100 including wires and everything. I installed it all myself and will put up some pics of the speaker install soon..

So initailly I had the Fusion just sitting in a generic Aerpro box smack bang in the middle of my empty boot. Looking very damn boring! So I decided to make a custom Boot install...I wanted something original, something that didnt involve grey carpet and something that would be impressive when the hatch was popped open...

Now Ive never done anythign like a boot install before but Im pretty handy so I thought I'd give it a go!

I started by making a new box for the sub. I made up a ported box to the Fusion specs the sub came with...this was wicked fun and turned out really well :) I calculated the angle I wanted the top to be on so that I could follow through with my install plans....Ive got pics of me making the box, ill put em up soon..

I then proceeded to add a custom false top that sat over the sub box and allowed the sub to essentially be recessed into the boot with the port tube continuing out of the box into the air....I then made up some black carpeted side mounts that fill in the entire space at the edges and give a very snug and proffesional finish.

It took me about 2 days to make the box and a further 2 days to do the install - With Graffiti done by ME!! ...that was great fun to do, ive been sketching graffiti for a little while and finally bought some cans and sprayed up a little piece just for a unique touch....Let me know what you think! again Ive got some pics of the progress of the boot install so they will come up soon :)
