Delorean How To-Start inhibit safety switch instructions

My friend designed this and i finally installed it on my car. This is an easy job that can be reversed if you wish. Do this on your own, i am not responsible for any damages you do to your car.

First of all this is for cars with 5 speed manual transmissions.

As you know all Deloreans with manual transmissions can be started in gear, untill now.

First off all i will show you what wire to cut. Notice the white and yellow wire, that is the wire we are going to cut. If you cut the wire here make sure you have enough wire left in the relay socket you can attach a new ground wire to it. The white and yellow wire that comes off the socket is where you want to connect a new ground wire to it and route it down to the clutch pedal area.

Next we are going to attach a Delorean brake light switch to the area above the clutch pedal. One half of the switch is going to be grounded to that big black juicy ground wire that goes to the inertia switch and the other half of the switch is going to have that white and yellow wire attached to it. I used a red wire for this job but you can use any color you want to.

Thats it you are done!

Now the only way to start your car is to push in the clutch first.

See the white and yellow wire is just a ground for the relay. See how it loops in and out of the red connector?

Now these directions were given to me to use and none of these pictures were taken by me, i also sent them into Gullwing Magazine and were featured in one of their issues a while back with consent of the person who designed the inhibit switch. Your sockets might have more or less wires on them because his car has added on features to the electrical system and he changed his wires to suit his needs but he designed this off the Delorean wiring schematic.

Fell free to ask me any questions.

Now any modifications you do to your own personal car is your responsibility. I am not responsible for any mistakes or damages you do to your car by using the instructions i have made for my custom Start Inhibit installation that i have done to my car. I will not be held liable for any damages done by you or someone else using these instructions.

Do all modifications at your own risk, i am not responsible for you or anyone else attempting this update.
