It twas a dark night as I was speeding along in my 89 Riviera there it was my boattail sitting under some trees in a ditch with a for sale sign in the widow. I came to a screeching halt in the middle of the road and then turing in to the nearest drive way and ran over to the beautiful boattail. I knew that I would get this car. Friends and family told me that this car was made for me. Called up the guy the next day he was asking $1,000 I got him down to $850. The rear main seal was shot he told me but he also said that the engine was overhauled about 5,000 miles ago. I am in auto at the high school so I did not care it's a four dollar part, so I though. Andrew and Kyle pulled the engine and put it on a stand. After the engine was on the stand and the main cap was removed we saw that it was worse than we first thought the seal and the oil pan gasket was liking so much oil leaking on to the road that it was none getting to the last main bearing it was eaten away and destroyed the crankshaft. So a four dollar problem snowballed in to a two hundred and four dollar problem.

The Boattail has a 455cid to push it down the road. It is the size of a boat at 6.5 feet wide 18 feet long and 4.5 feet tall.

My 72 has has all of these options on it:
AM/FM Radio 12.7%
Power Locks 42.4%
Power Seats 85.4%
Pwr Windows 96.0%
Sun Roof 3.5%
Tinted Windshield 2.4%
Cruise Control 44.2%

The numbers are percentages of options installed in 1972. Info from http://www.buick-riviera.com/

Gorgeous Riv. I kind of like it in its current mac 'n' cheese color. Got that crank and bearings replaced yet?
