goldwagon's 1978 Dodge Diplomat Brisbane, UN - 4 Hello all. I've only had this magnificent vehicle in my possession since January 2004 and all I can say it was love at first sight. I'll be updating this page frequently as I get more information and pictures, but right now the car has finally been shipped to California and is in storage. At the end of May 2004 I bought new emblems, had the dent in the passenger side pulled out and ordered new white-walls to replace the existing tires. The wagon's also been cleaned out of all the junk you can see in the pictures, and will be put in for service shortly. Still no new pics as I haven't been to see it yet - see what I mean below!

goldwagon's 1978 Dodge Diplomat Brisbane, UN - 2 I bought this car on eBay for $204.95. These images were taken by the seller and put on the auction page. They aren't mine. I was just browsing for the hell of it but could not resist when I saw the wagon. There was only one other bidder which pushed the price up five dollars from the starting bid so I still got it cheap. If only I could say the same for shipping and fixing it up!

I live in Australia and we don't have lovely cars like this down here, so thus I had it sent to California to join my 1983 Ford LTD station wagon in storage. I will be flying over shortly to have them fixed up and ready to be shipped to Australia by boat. Needless to say I can't wait.

goldwagon's 1978 Dodge Diplomat Brisbane, UN - 3 The Diplomat is in pretty good condition for its age and its history! The "original" owner, we'll call them, abandonned it on the side of the road after it ran out of gas. It was impounded and then sold at the County Auctions to the man I bought it from on eBay. His plan was to junk it and simply take the powertrain to use in another vehicle. Thank God he didn't! All I can say is I'm very pleased and proud to have rescued it and become the new owner. My plan is to restore the car to complete original mint condition (none of that "pimped-up" modification crap), which I'm sure will cost a bundle. But it'll be worth it!
