I am big fan of the 92 vic. I think it is the best lookin year before 98(93-97 "grill cars" r goofy to me)I have owned 2 92 vic LX's i loved them both.I started with a maroon car with 87k miles for 1800 bucks.I was 19 and broke as shit.I wanted more power right away though.so i started with some champion platnium plugs 16bucks and 8.5mil autolite wires(8mil is stock) 65bucks (had to have them the wire jackets had cuts in them).that was immedatly noticeable improvment.I also gave it 4qts. of fresh maxlife oil, fram filter,1qt of Lucas HD oil stabilizer and a can of engine restore.again a definate impovvement.I then dropped the trans pan changed the filter and replaced the 4 qts.that drained out(it has a 12qt cap. but i did not have the resounces for a full flush) with max life .That firmed up the shifts quite a bit and added another seat of the pants improvement.me and my uncle also dicided it was to quiet for its own good so we disconected the muffler.

a little more could be felt.a clean air fiter was also added the 1 it was way overdue.the car was pretty damn tough at that point.I raced little smart asses in fuckin hondas n shit and on the freeway a few times and embarassed some punk asses in boxes worth 2-5 times what my "Car"was worth.all I did to the exterior was take off the "caps" clean the surface rust of the wheels with a wire drill head and primer and paint them black 2 bucks (thank you dollar store).i also replaced the front brake pads.the tires were ok still.i drove the piss out of it for 2 months then i fucked up and touched it of a telephone pole talking one of my favorite corners that day fore some reason it had gravel on the road.the assfliped out and i couldn't catch it quick enough i crushed a little bit of the fiber glass grill piece and the headlight lense the bumper bounced back.the car was abosolutly fine though.I drove it for 3 more months and i crashed it again this time in to a ford probe he failed to yeild at a blind intersection and i hit him pretty damn good took his entire left corner out totaled him all i took out was th rest of the grill and the other headlight i threw that stuff in the trunk and drove it home. It still drove great. a month later the belt tensioner went out. this was the achillis it was a 1 year only part that had no aftermarket.ford wanted 400 bucks for a new replacement part.i had to park it for 3 months.finally i found a 92 in a backfield that an old man parked cuse of the trans.the baby blue body was immaculate the navy interior too.it did not run but that was all the better i got it for 500 bucks.swaped the tensioner off the motor made sure mine still ran (of course it did)towed it home swaped the drivetrain in.I had a few hicupps at first both brakes locked upand auctally cought the plastic dust gaurds on fire.so i changed out the rotors$30 each, calipers$15 each and pads$12 on front.I also found that sensors dont like to "sit" I had to replace the o2 $50,egr$30,map$80 and both of the distributers $70.I also decided to change the hoses$10 the belt$7 flush cooling sys$20 and the trans$30 completely.A new fuel pump$15was in order also a fuel reg $35 and filter $6.I was doin good shit.but i also wanted some more power.I started with intake mods i honed out the throttle body with a dremel and created a half inch t-body spacer with wood i traced the openings cut out with a jig saw and used the dremel to carve a heilux in it and got some longer bolts.I created a more direct intake tract with thin black pvc plumbing.i added a K&N air filter i rigged a cold air scoop into the air box from under the bumper.that was all damn noticeable at speed.I also could feel more inital torque.I then keeping with the budget stole a p71 cpu chip from a cop car the was wrecked in our town thus eliminating my 110Mph speed limiter.unhooked the the muffler on the single exhaust.I gave the car bosch platnium4 plugs.i took the car to see a guy with a mustang shop who reprogramed the cpu to take advantage of the increased flow n spark.he said that he added at least 15 hp.Icould feel that more than anything before the last touch me and my uncle replaced the 2.73 axle with a 3.73 for an explorer for $90.That is what did it it all that car feels like a damn muscle car.i gave it some new tires not long after $270. But then the story gets sad i went on a road trip and got was fuckin around and got clocked at 130mph in a 65mph zone. I lost my license for 6 months. I know this car looks bone stock, but that is point. To create an inexpensive, fast, unassuming, easy, and cheap to insure car.
