Been a LONG while since I've updated this page... I'm currently daily driving a '91 Mustang GT and have a couple LTDs sitting back home in Texas (going to school in Arizona)that are waiting for my attention. This page has not been updated in almost 3 years so keep that in mind when you're reading. Here's a current link to what I'm driving now http://www.theautolog.com/stangchick-1 Definately check that place out, I'm going to be adding my LTD on there as soon as I can locate my pics or take better ones of it.
Ok, I finally washed my poor dirty old car.... so here are some pictures of it clean

I've slowly been working on this car for a little over 2 years now and have grown on the idea of my LTD sleeper.
The day I turned 16, I drove home an 84' LTD. I wasn't so thrilled at the idea at first, because it wasn't exactly what I had been thinking about for my first car. But then my dad told me that it had a fox chassis and the rest is history...
It was a very clean car with no rust and a very clean interior. When I got it, it had clear plastic seat covers on all the seats.
Here's a recent pic of the car (not even clean). I catch enough crap about my black hood, but didn't really have much choice about it. My dad hit a deer with it and we had to replace the grill, hood, and some other parts. (at least he missed the first 4 we saw)
So far we've swapped out just about all of the suspension with a wrecked convertable mustang's and an 84' t-bird.
Unfortunately, earlier this year, I had a slight oops. We had put the turbine wheels on it to get rid of the ugly hubs with the white-wall tires. WWhen we did, we just left the old tires on until we could buy new ones. So I drove around several months on near-bald tires. BAD combination one day with rain and a curve. (and I was probably having a little too much fun for the conditions) So I ended up with the back end coming around and would have recovered, but as soon as the rear tire got off the road and hit the mud I just slid right into a tree. (one of those backroads where the trees are like 2ft from the road) lol. So I have a slight wrinkle in the car.
We have come to the decision that it would cost more to repair the damage than we have in the car. I knew of another car just like it in the area that had been sitting in someone's driveway a while so I checked on it.
The car is almost the same color as my 84', it's basically the same car except it's an 83'. The rear window was busted out from the hurricane that hit south Texas during the summer but other than that and a few other minor things (small dent in the rear quarter panel and a dime size rust spot) the car is pretty clean. The guy sold it to me for $150 if I would get it out of his driveway. The car actually runs but I haven't had it running because the battery's dead.
Right now, it is just sitting at my house because I haven't had time to do much to it during school. My dad and I have plans to drop the 5.0 AOD from the t-bird in it along with a few other things before we junk the t-bird. We will change all that out and work on a few things then swap out the suspension and wheels from my 84' before I drive it. I think it will be easier to do it that way so I won't be without a car.
But I am still working on my 84' some even though I'll end up moving all the work to the 83'. I drove it for 3 months with the dash messed up because the speedo cable broke, but I finally slowed down long enough to replace it. Last month, we took the springs off the t-bird and put them on it. We had the stiffer springs from a stang on it and with the turbine wheels and bigger tires, I was having problems with the tires rubbing. The t-bird springs were taller and I wanted to see how it would drive with the softer springs on it. Unfortunately, the softer springs don't won't let me corner as hard at the stiffer ones, but I no longer have a problem with the tires rubbing. There's a slight bit of understeer in the corners but other than that, with the stang suspension, the LTD corners quite well. Only problem with that is I can't get much acceleration out of the corners with the v6. My dad laughs at me when I get mad because I can't have enough fun with the v6, but I'm just waiting for the 5.0. We haven't decided on if we should convert it to a 5-speed or not yet. I like the auto and everything but the 5-speed would be so much more fun!
So that's my plan for right now, I'll update as I work on it.
*Oh yeah, any time I say we, I mean me and my dad. He's the brains behind most of this work. (I'm just a stupid girl, remember) Not really, but I have to at least give credit to my dad for helping with most of the work.
>UPDATE (8-2-04)
Ok, slight change of plans... I've decided to go for the 5-speed instead of the AOD. Made this decision last month so things are still kinda crazy and slow. Found a wrecked '88 GT stang that I'm planning on using with the 5.0/5-speed in it. The car got side-swiped on the driver's side but the entire drivetrain is in good shape with only 49k original miles. Got connections to get an entire Mustang interior (grey) to swap out too. Mainly the dash, console, and seats are what I plan to use. Sadly enough, because I changed my plans, my car won't be finished in time for me to drive it to school for the fall semester. My dad will finish everything out and bring it to me (I hope). He might like it too much and I'll never see it again lol. But if he wants his little hot rod pickup back he will. It's an 89' F-150 extended cab that we've been working on a bit. Just put a flowmaster on it last week so it sounds pretty good now. Anyway, my eventual plans for my car are to set it up for some autocross and other racing. Probably put at least a 6-point cage in it before I do anything serious though (but it will have to be custom built to fit the 4 door).
This weekend I worked at the Texas Mile Land Speed Race (texasmile.com) and saw some pretty cool stuff. Records were shattered when a turbo bike ran 251mph and change, beating the old record of 210. And the first car to break 200mph was a HOT ROD featured Comaro running 200 and change then the female record was broken in that same car (along with the old record) after the second driver ran nearly 209mph. Next year, in May, my car should be ready to run in the next Texas Mile event (probably the 140 class).

Pictures of my new ride....
UPDATE (1-5-05)
Being home from college for the holidays seems to have remotivated my dad to finally get back to work on my poor little old car. Found out some good news from a new resource, found a guy who says he can fix the um... wrinkle I put in the car no problem. So we've desided to stick with this one for the engine swap. Last night we changed the black hood with the one off the '83 so it looks decent now. Also, we changed the dash out with a silver one my dad found in a junk yard a while back, it looks great! Started work on getting the 5.0 out of that old t-bird so we can junk it. I'll keep you updated.
UPDATE (1-22-05)
So over my Christmas break we finally pulled the motor out of the t-bird. It was an interesting scene to watch but at least it's out and we can start working on getting it cleaned up and put in my car. Needs a good cleaning and a little work because it's been sitting a while but it's still a good engine.
Oh yeah, by the way....
PROJECT MUSTANG:
Currently working on setting up an '89 Mustang with a 5.0/5-speed to play with. My dad claims it's his toy, but we'll see about that!

Lot's of space to be filled here! And here's a pic of both the projects just for fun.
