I bought my car in October of 2000. It is a Type LT 1973 Camaro with 140,000 original miles on the car. Once we drove the car around for a few weeks we began to break it down so that my father and I could restore it.

The Engine was removed first followed by the body on the front end. After that, the front forks were removed along with everything on the front suspension and anything on the fire wall.

While everything was being stored in my backyard, then engine was broken down and the block was sent to a Machine Shop near my home. The guy there boiled the block, bored it .030 over, and decked it.

My father began porting and polishing the heads, while I began cleaning and painting all of the parts that would be kept stock.

We then ordered a full suspension for front and rear, along with a complete front and rear brake set along with brake lines. I began painting these parts and started to install them back onto the car once the firewall was painted and front forks were sandblasted and powdercoated.

Right now the car is basically how we bought it (from the firewall back). There are only the forks on the front and one side has a-arms and new shocks.

Once the car is completed it will have comp cams, roller rockers and lifters, an Edelbrock Air-Gap Intake Manifold, Edelbrock 700cfm carb, Hedman Headers, 3" Flowmaster exhaust, Accel Ignition, and 9.5:1 compression pistons.

This is my car before we did anything to it, except that the wheels are off and the car is on blocks....there are more pics of the restoration on the next few pages.....

You have a nice project ahead of you. As to what you said on my page, I didn't do a whole lot to my engine, really. I didn't do anything to drastically add horsepower. That figure is only a estimate based on what I know, reflective on how much horsepower my 440 had stock. I should be pushing about 450-500, and I'll probably get it dynoed sometime when the project is done. When I do, I'll let you know. Take it easy man, and thanks for the comment on my page.

Blower is too costly, and I love the nitrous, and the engine is already put together with 10.5cr

David, Your car is looking real nice. Post more pics when you're finished. You asked about the supercharger on my "beast". From 2 perspectives, it is a fine setup...first, it runs like a rocket, second, it sure draws the crowds. I think its a great investment for $2500 or so in parts. The beauty is that it runs like a normal car until you punch it. Think about getting one. Holly is the supplier.
