I decided to paint all the accesory shit like the alternator, motor mounts, and the water pump black just to make it look even better. after I put the timing chain on it was ready to go back together. The transmission got a filter and all new seals, and a new detent cable, because I forgot to unhook it. But it was worth it because a 350 turbo tranny is just what I had in mind. After the crossmember was bolted up and the motor was mounted, I was on my way. Doesn't this just happen to everyone? You get all excited that your almost done with something and something goes and fucks you up and put you behind. Thats what happened with my headers. I thought I'd get chrome headers to match everything else plus they were a good buy on ebay. They were said to fit a small block chevy but that was not completly true. The headers are the flow tech block hugger center dump headers and so when I tried to put the header on the passanger side it hit the starter. Of course this pissed me off. But probabally 2 weeks later, I was in Jocko's looking for a different set of headers, and the guy working there just happened to have a used set of flow tech shorties. With a little persuasion to the headers they slipped in and bolted up. Now the only thing holding me back is the exhaust. I bought a ten foot stick of 2" pipe and cut it in half. I welded glasspacks on with turndowns on the end. The only problem is that I cant find a pre-bent piece to come down from the collectors and when it runs back it hits the floor boards so I need it bent in by the drive shaft and I should be ready do go.Now I just recently got some full length flow tech headers that took a little more persuasion, this time on the tranny belhousing. I got all new 2 1/2" pipe and had Doug at Magic Muffler custom bend my exhaust. I had to cut the crossmember with a torch for the exhaust to run back but Magic Muffler put a dimple in where the crossmember was so I didnt have to cut much. The original plan was to run strait pipe with glass packs(that were alrady burnt out)and turn downs. Well I found out that the police dont like noise pollution so I went with Flow Tech Raptor turbo mufflers, and turn downs, dumped right before the rearend. Theyre still sorta deep soundin for only 15 dollars a piece. Heres a shot of the exhaust from the back.
