The Malibu started out as just a car to get me by till I got my GN but it turned out to be more than just that. The malibu was originally a 267 "pooch" with a 2 barrel carb. It still had all the emission control shit and A/C, but neither worked so it was just taking drive off my motor. So I drove the car for probabally 3 days and it started shittin out on me. It was back firing and I couldnt figure out what the hell the problem was. I made sure it was on time, I got all new cap, rotor, wires and plugs to see if that would help. When that didn't work I did compression on it. Thats where I found the problem, it was runnin on 6 cylinders instead of 8. The compession on the # 5 & 6 cylinders was 50 instead of 150. While it pissed me off I was actually just as happy because I wanted a different motor to begin with.
The original plan with a new motor was a 283 out of my dads 67 Bel-air. Although I would love to have the the 2spd. powerglide I didn't want to settle for that. I kept begging my dad if I could buy his 350 4- bolt out of his 72 C-10. After about a week, I finally talked him into sellin me the motor and transmission.
On my birthday I pushed the truck into the garage and started to tear it down. About 11 O' clock that night the motor was out and I was ready to do some cleaning.
I decided that if I was going to put this motor back in my car I might as well make it look nice, even though the car might not look the nicest.
I began cleaning the grease off the motor, which was a bitch, but when it was down to the cast I painted the motor Chevy Orange.

I got to looking through the paper and came along this number for a chevy 350 non EGR 4bbl intake and carb for $80 so I jumped on that, because it had the old 1bbl. EGR so it was a definite MUST HAVE. I took the intake to Midwest Cylinder Head in Nevada and had the intake hottanked before I painted it. It also got painted chevy orange.
The old valve covers werent cleaning up very nice, and when I got to looking, it was going to be cheaper to get a Mr. Gasket Chrome kit, so I said what the hell, might as well. That worked out good because it came with the valve covers, timing chain cover, Breather, and an oil dipstick.
