This is a picture of my wife's car. It's working on being 25 years old. That makes it a classic, correct? I realize this is not your typical car to restore but it has sentimental value. I like to work on old cars, so what the hell I'll restore it for her. I thought I would be the only person restoring a 1980 Citation but on CarDomain.com there are several.
This car was a one owner. My father and mother in-laws bought the car new in 1980 and drove it until 2002.
Summer 2005
I've put the Citation on the road. 25 years old only safety check.
Things I've done to make her road worthy at 7600 miles:
New Alternator
Sand blasted the wheels and painted them
I had to take the dash apart to remove a piece of paper covering the Odometer
Replaced EGR valve
Sand blasted the air cleaner and painted it
Replaced bad head light
Fixed broken head light screws
New plugs and wires
Oil and filter changed
Replaced air filter
Replaced PVC valve
Found a new dip stick to replace broken one
Fixed fuel line leaks
Made emergency brake work
Had right rear tire's white wall turned inside to match the rest
Sucked out old R-12 and replaced with 134
Glued up the head liner
Replaced Transmission oil, lower gasket, lower filter
Made wire hanger for exhaust pipe
Patched hole in driver's floor pan
New upper and lower radiator hoses
Replaced cat converter with straight pipe
Disconnected EGR valve
New belts, AC, Alt, PS
Spring on throttle
Tightened screw on carb choke linkage
I've bought new front struts but have not put them on.
