Oh! What a Gas
I was going to the Goodguys car show in at the Texas Motor Speedway in Forth Worth. On the way back one of my gas tank bands broke. Of course I had a full tank of gas. In the process of fixing it it fell out. Luckly a guy stopped by and helped me put it back on the car. 16 gallons of fuel weights close to 100 pounds, lifting it was no fun. I got home but later the band broke again. I have replaced the bands and bolts. It looked so terrible I sand blasted the tank and trunk area. Then painted it. Since I got the car it always made my garage smell like gas. I found out why. Someone had drilled a hole through the trunk into the gas tank. Not once but twice. It sure is fun seeing all the handy work of the previous owners over the 43 years of her life before I bought her.
I don't know if I have been lucky or owning a classic car makes people want to stop and help out when I have broken down. Since I have owened this car it has broken down at least 10 times. Only twice did I have to be towed home. Almost every time someone has stoped and helped me get her back on the road. There are still good people in the world.
