stronga's 1957 Chevrolet 150

The 2008 car season has begun with the Dallas AutoRama indoor car show. The Dallas Area Classic Chevy Club had a display with a half a dozen cars. I worked the club's booth both Sat and Sun. There were so many people there on Sat you could hardly walk. A lot of great cars. I took photos of the Tri-Fives, of course, and some of my personal favorites. I posted the link below for your enjoyment.

At last the first car show and drag event of the year. There were 4 drag race classes. I was in c/gas. The old 57 ran constant 9:55 ET. I finished second in my class in heads up competition but went out with a red light in the first round of bracket eliminator. Club members in attendance were Dennis G, John R, David G, Charley R and myself. Met a new guy named Frank or Robert who I found out later is a DACC member as well. He drove a red 55 in race form but did not race due to oil pressure problems. He also had the Air Stream trailer.

I took 62 photos of the show. Here is a link to the photos:

Reilable Car Show

The DACCs Spring Reliable Car today was a hug success. We had 75+ Tri-Fives in attendance. The weatherman was working with us with plenty of sunshine and 70s. We had a live band and plenty of door prizes.

Texas Raceway, located in Kennedale, Texas, was the host of the opening race of the Texas Muscle Car Challenge series. Dallas Area Classic members David, Larry, Kenneth, James and I were in attendance.

On the trip to the racetrack, I noticed that my car was running rough. To check things out I went to the taxiway to test the engine with a hard acceleration only to have the power steering belt break. At least I didnt need to worry about over correcting in a skid.

My first two runs were a disappointing second slower than my usual ET. I first diagnosed the problem to be bad plug plugs or wires only later to find out that the alternator had a loose wire that fed power to the ignition. The coil was not getting enough power to fully power the engine. Once fixed the 150 ran in tiptop shape easily winning its first heat race. During the second elimination, the hell bitch bogged because of driver error. I forgot to set the RPMs at 3000 for my green light launch. The mental lapse made it impossible to run down my opponent thus a lost in the second round. I ran good in the first elimination of the Race of Champions race but lost by a bumper length. To add insult to injury I broke a rocker arm during that race. Fellow club members came to my aid taking me to OReillys for a new rocker arm. After replacing the rocker arm, I was good to go and made the drive home without incident.

Thank you for the compliments on my car! If you haven't already, please take a moment to vote for my '69 Camaro on the Texaco Car of the Decades contest at texacocarofthedecades.com. Currently a Crossfire, Pacer and Smart Car are leading the overall category and a VW bug is catching up to me fast in my decade. Help!
