The rear float in my Holley Carburetor is sticking under hard acceleration. I guess I will have to rebuild the carburetor. First I will have to buy some parts. I searched and O?Reillys has parts for the Holley Carburetor. I went to Mortec.com and found out what type of Holley Carburetor I have. On the choke horn on the driver?s side the model number is stamped. My number is 805 508-1. This number tells me I have a 750 CFM with a stock jetting size of f 72 with a plate b4.21 power valve 6.5 type 4160.

I hope to get some parts this week.

I took the rear float off of the carburator. A screw fell out of the float bowel. I could not really see were it went so I took the whole carburator off. I'm going to take it to school and have Tony look at it. I hope the screw falling out was just due to age and not to some other problem.

I am going to have to do some research on the names of the Holley carburator and what they do.

My secondary metering body has a crack. I will have to replace it. O?Reillys would have to order it and it would take 5 to 7 days. Auto Zone can?t even get it. Even getting the gaskets is a chore. Part hunting, I hate it.

After several phone calls and visiting AZ & O'R I deceded to take my friend Tom's advice and buy a metering block conversion kit from Summit. I ordered it by phone and received it in 5 days with a free hat. A better hat that Jegs sends I must say.

After looking at the exploded photo at Holley.com I put my carburator back to gether. Since the new secondary metering block is thicker than the old one I had I had to do some custom bending of the fuel line. No big deal.

She started right up. Took her for a test drive and no problems. Ok what next?

Thank you for the compliments on my car! If you haven't already, please take a moment to vote for my '69 Camaro on the Texaco Car of the Decades contest at texacocarofthedecades.com. Currently a Crossfire, Pacer and Smart Car are leading the overall category and a VW bug is catching up to me fast in my decade. Help!
