Inside Man
I'm starting on a new Phase of restoration on my 57.
While finishing my trunk I found that the rear window panel was very rusty and dirty. I also have found holes in the front bottom of the driver?s side wheel well. On the passenger side the long brace has the end rusted off. It was filled with good old Oklahoma red clay. Not only was the end rusted off it had rusted clear through the floor pan. My next project will be to clean and paint the portion of the floor under the seat.

I pulled my 57 out on to the driveway after charging the battery so I could see to sand the floor under the back seat and the rear window panel. I only had one 24 grit flap sanding disk. I have gone to Home Depot and Wal-Mart but neither carries the type of sanding disk I need. I got the one I have now from Harbor Freight in Richardson, TX. I sanded the whole area but have lot more sanding to do before I paint. Since you can?t see this paint job and am only painting it for rust prevention I will paint with a brush using Rustolium paint.
After getting tired of sanding, I gave her a good washing since she was pretty dusty from sand blasting the trunk for sheet metal work and paint. I wanted her clean because next weekend I will attend my first CCI club meeting in Dallas. I became a member last week.

Not much to report other than I DA sanded most of the remaining area. The smaller parts I used my dremel tool. The hardest part was the lip under the window. I cleaned that area up as much as possible. I sanded as much as I thought necessary and put one coat of paint over the cleaned metal.
While I was working on the sanding I bought a tube of silicone and covered up some holes to keep the exhaust fumes out of the car. I still have the big hole over the rear right brace and at the bottom of left wheel well. I used some silicone on the wheel well for a temporary fix.
Finally I got one coat of paint on the bare metal. It still needs another coat.
During this fixI gave her a oil change; placed oil in the tranny and I cleaned up Candy as good as I could to get ready to go to my first Dallas Classic Chevy Club meeting. It was held at Reliable Chevrolet in Richardson, TX. I did make one side trip on the way to the meeting to pick up some supplies at Harbor Freight. I bought some more 24 grit flap sanding wheels.
