Chatarro
Update Oct. 16 2009
The day at the track was GREAT. I tried not to push the car since it's the first time it was gonna be driven hard. I had an excellent time and the car performs GREAT. The 4-link rear suspension from Heidt's is a SUPERB product.
A couple passes.
In Car laps.
Update Oct. 08 - 2009
Working on the car, minor changes needed under the hood. Moving to the interior and other details.
We will have a Trackday this Sunday at a track about 100km away from the City. Hope to get some video and pics of the car there. After this, I will take it back to a friends shop and we will finish the paintjob.
Some pics and a Short Test vid.
Me and the Car

New Carbon Fiber Bezel
Update Aug. 11 - 2009
Believe it or not... I haven't finished the car yet.. many changes, little time and working hard to get the money to complete my dreamed ride.
I finally decided to change the Camshaft (and related parts), my selection was a Comp Cams Xtreme Energy K kit with solid lifters. grind XS290S (2800-7200 RPM). Also the Holley 4150 was switched for a Mighty Demon 750 I got at Ebay.
Also a 3" dual pipe with Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers and "X" connected.
Still waiting for proper carb jetting (way bigger than now) and MSD 6AL-2 and ProBillet distributor. My old HEI was having problems so we tried a 50 bucks Ebay Distributor... good enough for about 5500RPM if you ask me.
Video of the first drive with the new cam, sorry for the Spanish :P
Hope to finish the paint job soon, interior is something I haven't really thought until now.. still not decided on which way to go there.
Some shots for my, and your amusement.
Update May. 24 - 2009
Boy am I tired!!!
After struggling with transmission problems yesterday we could finally put the car back on the streets!.. well just for a short test. Since there is still a lot to do.
Some of the first shots with the car outside the Garage.
and... a short test drive video. (open headers)
Update Mar. 21 - 2009
Not much to tell, problems with the clutch, got a new Fork, but the problem seems to be the Pivot Ball (I'll order an adjustable one), or maybe a longer throwout bearing.
Some pics from today, car and
hood finally together.
A Short video of the engine reving up today.
Update Mar. 12 - 2009
Not much to tell actually, still running into some problems. Had to order a new Clutch Fork since the one I had has a weird angle so the clutch doesn't work. It arrived today. Also a spacer for the crank pulley of the gilmer set.. as usual it was more expensive on taxes and shipping charges to Chile than what it costed me at the States.
I haven't had much time to work on the car. I finally got the hood ready and sent it with a friend to my dad place a week ago, so I can install it next time I go to work on the car. My first look at polished paint of the car and I have to say it looks marvelous.
I will need to remove the transmission, install new fork and work on the shifter and linkage when it's outside. I have some ideas to make it more accurate.
This is one of the last pics I've taken. Still a lot to do.
Update Feb. 13 - 2009
Wow, this has been a while... I've been working on the car, but slowly. My dear Friend Jorge was kind enough to build the whole electrical system from scratch and kept putting the car together.
I haven't finished the paintjob yet, I will when everything else is done.
The car has been moved to a new (old) place, where I can go and work anytime I want. The only problem is that it's about 55 miles away from home.
I will upload more pics this weekend.
Here's a short video of the Engine's Start.
I was running headers only, so that's the reason for it being so loud.
Update Oct. 10 - 2008
Not much to tell, ordered a Centerforce Dual friction set, so it will take another week before the car can start.
Worked some on the interior... Yes, it's a TransAM Dashboard... I don't like the one from the Camaro.

This pic should have been in the previuos upgrade.

Update Oct. 05 - 2008
Ok. the car doesn't look as a 1974 anymore, We took it back in time to 1970.
Working to get the Car finished.. looking better don't you think?
Update Sept. 15 - 2008
Just to let you know the new looks are coming up nicely! Hope to hit the streets in a couple weeks.]
some new pics.

Will show new engine updates soon too!
Update Mar. 15 - 2008
Well, Making my car look a couple years older than it is (I want 1970's emblems and looks) is "ongoing".
I hope to have it on the streets in a month or two (this is not overhaulin' you know?)
Some new pics.
Next week the hard work on the body starts.
Wheels are American Racing Torq Thrust M
17x10.5 Rear with 275/40/17 Dunlop SP9000 Tires
17x8 Front with 225/45/17 Dunlop SP9000 Tires
If anyone goes for this combo, the front wheels fit perfect, if you want to install the 10.5's you'll need a 2.5 inch wheel adapter for the rear.
Update Feb. 11 - 2008
Wow.. haven't updated for a long time now!!
Let me tell you the 1974 ... will not be a 1974 anymore.
I've always dreamed of a 1970-73 RS, so I'll turn the 1974 into my dream camaro.
Car is already at the shop and getting some job done, It will be fully restored this time..
Some pics.
Hope to update soon with new pics!
Update Aug. 18 - 2007
Well, last weekend we went to the dragstrip again to test the car. Bad thing it started raining so I took some pics instead of racing.
I'm very pleased with the results.. just the rain drops on the car bothers me.

Chatarro
Hello again!.
I just couldn't wait until summer.
We organized an American Cars meeting, So I spent about a week going to the shop after work and stay there until 5 in the morning , and then going back to work at 7:30 every single day to get the car ready for Saturday.
It was absolutely worth it.
i Finally Installed a GM Posi with 3.42 gears.
a Couple pics from saturday, I was VERY late, working on the car 'till the last minute so didn't even had time to clean the car up.

OLD History
This are some pics of the car from when I bought it. The engine looks was not good, but it already had some power inside like TRW 2256F pistons, Performer RPM camshaft and some work on the heads.
The works
Well, I'll always think of Chatarro as a work in progress, here you can see a picture of "step one" the car is now black and some new mods installed: RPM AirGap manifold, Holley 4150 double pumper 750cfm, Summit Racing Headers and a bunch of small stuff.

Stage 2
I managed to get some money so I moved on to "Stage 2". It ment new paintjob under the hood, Energy Suspension kit, and some other fun stuff. As you can see it looked quite better.
here are the pics!
To put Chatarro together has demanded hell lots of time and a lot of money considering that I have to import parts here by myself and I end up paying almost twice than what parts costs at the States.
I would like to thank Summit Racing help and sales department. They deliver quickly and answer any questions you have.
I also got new wheels... always loved the Iroc-Z wheels and I had a chance to get them (hard to find here in Chile). I think they look great, but need a wider tire on the back..
This pictures where taken on January 01, 2006.
Just loved this pic.. I know I need to get the tail a little lower, I will soon.
Just to let everyone know that "uncle Vic" had something to do with the car.
Engine Overhaul
I couple months ago I met a great mechanic who absolutely LOVES V8 Engines, he also used to do some racing here in Chile in a 1965 Acadian using a Chevy 350 engine. He also owns a 1969 RS Camaro. We became good friends and now he is working (with some of my help) to give a boost to my engine
This is the work we've done on Saturday, July 22 2006
you can watch a video of the first start here:
VIDEO

Here's some of the latest pics, I got a new pair of P295/50 R16 tires today, hope to install them soon.
Finally! .. new rear tires P295/50R16 just installed, haven't tried them on the road yet.
Well, the car has been stored waiting for the summer (that'll mean January over here), meanwhile I'll try to save some money for the final process. Which will mean limited slip rear diff, 3.70 gears, new paint, interior work and rear suspension.
Thanks for watching!
