The Engine Page
Theese are pics of my engine bay projects and dress ups.
This is my polished intake.
It was a DIY 'er project.
I first tried using a d/a sander and some 80 grit to knock the roughness off it but the d/a's too big to fit in there good so I got creative. I took my right angle, air, die grinder and used the disk pads it has and cut some pieces of 80 grit to fit the diameter of it then used feather disk adhesive to hold them on. That worked great once done I used my dremel w/ the sand paper roll to get in the tight spots. When I got the big junk done I found the best way and thing to use, (which I should have tried earlier), was a drill, (electric one), w/ a rust/paint remover disk thing on it. It's like a scotch brite pad or wire brush almost. That realy made it even and took out the sanding marks really good. I then tried numerous ways and things but found best thing was 220 grit paper dry to sand it good and smooth, then switched to 400 wet. I then dried it off and used an electric buffer and wool pad w/ some rubbin compound on it and then moved up to some mag and aluminium polish and used the buffer and wool pad on that. The final step I reapplied the mag polish and done what the directions said and done it all by hand. Turned out better then chrome and better then I expected.
