The new hood scoop!!!!

UPDATED!!!!!
Primered pics at bottom!!!!
check back soon!!!

There was alot of work went into this project. I kept gettin jumped onto by my dad over my ways of doing stuff so I said fine you do the hood alone then and he did, turned out really nice. Wasn't like a huge fight just conflict of interest on ways of molding it down to go smooth and look right. We filled the hood indents w/ fiberglass after gettin the hood scoop on solid. The hood scoop had to be trimmed to fit right so we trimmed it down then used a few screws to hold it down while we drilled holes every inch or so apart to hold it down. We used a very long shank rivet to make sure and grab the hood realy well and go thru the indents in a few spots as well. The rivets are aluminium so they shouldn't ever rust out. They were garunteed not to so I'll make them stand good for it if they do. Once pop riveted solid we began the fiberglass work and smoothed it to the hood w/ coat after coat of fiberglass and bondo and sanded using a d/a sander. That is were we had conflict. I do not preffer a d/a for bondo always heard it would leave it lumpy, and so I did'nt want to risk that but dad loves using it so I said ok go for it, it messes up I'll go back and fix it. Turned out nice w/o really any lumps just few bad spots were the bondo thinned down to just metal of the hood which required my attention and had to lay down a thin coat of bondo and work out by hand as well as a few good coats of spot filler. Once done everyone that we did'nt tell or who were'nt around thought it was a plane hood not a scoop but that we'd made a hood for it or bought one.
It took a few heavy coats of primer to make sure the rivets would'nt show thru later. Now as for the back that's were we got creative a lil bit. The radius was a lil more then the camaro hood was so we had 2 choices: the way we done it, molding it down and blending, or just cuttin almost the whole back off the scoop and redoing it all by hand. So fearing it would not come out as good as we wanted we opted for choice one and blended it to make it appear to have the scoops pop up thru the hood as seen in the pics of the hood off the car.

Theese are pictures of my hood scoop and it's a universal scoop too.

Man when the time comes I should get you and your dad to help me with my Monte:). Man that Camaro is off the charts! You did a bang up job. If your Monte comes out half as good as this car it will be a street stunner!

Sweet ride man I love what you did with the hood scoop. I found your post on a forum and was wondering if you ever had problems with the area around the scoop cracking? I've seen many ppl try to put their own hood scoops on and it cracks within a few months or after the winter. Does the Bondo-Glass filler do a good job of holding the edges down so they don't crack? How is your hood holding up through the winter? Thanks man, Kyle.
