So here it is: My Second Audi 5000 (that ISNT a parts car. heh) Making it into as much of a sleeper as I can.
The car has a long story, and has been through a lot. I bought it stock. (114k miles) Originally I installed an 034efi RS2 Replica Turbo. Soon after I *fully* realized what everyone had been telling me... I wasn't going to be getting any more power without Electronic Fuel Ignition. Took a while, but I finally got the cash do the EFI Swap.
(034efi Stage IIb Standalone) Wiring: SUCKED. lol I used the Stage IIb computer, with 034 42lb/hr. injectors, inserts to the head, their fuel rail, FPR and other little crap.
Took it to Waterfest 2 weeks later, and after doing some *very* shitty self-tuning (Honestly, had NO idea what I was doing) ended up running a 14.6 in the quarter. Like I said, my poor tuning combined for low power, AND a lean condition at high RPM's at WOT... leading to early shifting and actually letting off throttle totally between 3/4's of the track, and the end.
...As you might expect, doing tuning like I was (guess and check. no, seriously, I was just guessing numbers) I ended up blowing the headgasket. Was pretty strange really. I Didn't blow a hole through it. Nothing of the sort. However, as you can see in the picture, all of the gasket's holes around the cylanders were egg-shaped.
After putting a new headgasket on, I continued on, pulling the timing back making the thing wicked slow, till I mustered up enough cash to get the thing pro-tuned. Well, about a month of driving it (once or twice each weekend when back from school) I found that when having done the Timing belt (afterall, I had the head off) I had apparrently incorrctly tightened the crank pulley. Driving down the road, the thing let go, so that the cam gear stopped spinning and the crank, well, didn't.
ALL the valves bent, and the cash I had been saving for the protune went toward the head rebuild. (With a couple hundred bucks help from my dad. he knew this thing was killing me) After a big rebuild, this was the result: (pictured with the 034 RS2 Replica Turbo:
When putting the head on, I used one of 034's Metal headgaskets and ARP Headstuds for some detination resistance, hopefully giving me enough time to change something, should it start pinging.
The car ran well for a while. Never fast, and I was never comfortable getting into high RPM boost with it... After replacing the 2nd headgasket, I was confident my tuning left something to be desired. LoL.
Anyway, I took the car to Tony Chick's European Performance Labs about two months ago to be protuned at 20psi. The car performed well, but a computer issue (something froze) lost all of the maps, so I ended up leaving with an untuned car... (Which, BTW, was burning a lot of oil at high RPM's) though Tony was great about it, and invited me back.
At this point, the oil consumption and burning was just more or less pissing me off, so I decided to take the plunge and so the rings and bearings. (and no, I'd never been that deep into a motor.) Doing it wasn't too hard, just time consuming. The shitty part was, while it stopped a LOT of the oil consumption and nearly all the blow-by, it was still burning some.
I found out why a couple weeks ago, as it rapidly got really bad. The oil seal inside the RS2 Replica had been letting oil blow-through and was dumping it right into the downpipe. lol.
So I decided to go for the big-time... 034efi K26/T04E Hybrid Turbocharger.

Also, at this same time, I finished installing the Audi 200 20VT Intercooler with the customized piping I needed to do to fit in the BPV:
Guess its time for an update. Been a while since the last time. I melted 3 pistons. (Detonation) and replaced the bottom end with a used one. Then I replaced the exhaust manifold with a tube header (034's), and after munching the valves (AGAIN) have a new head with bigger intake valves. (a-la marc swanson) The Pics!:
