This is my 1989 Volvo 240DL. I have had the car since 2002, and it has been in my family since 1996. This is the car that gave my family the appreciation for Volvo that we have now. It was my mom's daily driver when I was in middle and high school. After I got my license I was looking for a Honda to purchase(yes...I was going to drive a ricer), but was able to drive this car for one week solid. That was all it took for me to realize that this was the best car I could find. I made a deal with my Mom and bought it from her.
My dad had no say in this deal, since it wasn't his car, and wasn't happy about it. Apparently he was as fond of "the brick" as I was. After a couple of Camrys my dad found a white 2000 V70, and he finally got his Volvo. My sister has now also bought a Volvo(on the advise of myself and my father), she got a 1989 740GL.
She has since sold her '89 and bought a '90 that looks almost the same and has fewer miles. My Mom got a white 1995 850 sedan at the same time and from the same guy that my sister got her 740. As soon as we get some sunny weather we'll be taking our 5 Volvos out and take some pictures of the family.

While I may lust after a C30 R-Design I know that my 240DL will never leave my garage. I have been followed more than once just so someone could ask me if I would be willing to sell my car. Family(not my dad) and friends think I'm crazy for loving an old car so much, but I won't let them drive it, so they don't know how great it is.

This 240 is a labor of love. Almost nothing makes me as happy as a day spent working on my car. I recently bought a 1971 142E, just to start my collection of Volvos.
