Ducatisti's 1968 Dodge W-Series Pickup Ducatisti's 1968 Dodge W-Series Pickup This truck features a .030 over '69 440 magnum. The engine was built by Sanderson Racing Engines, in Sand City, California. The motor was then professionally tuned by Troy Patterson of TMP Carbs, in Chatsworth, California. TMP built the custom Holley double-pumper. It was equipped with annular discharge booster venturies, varoius airflow mods, custom baseplate, and weber metering blocks. It uses Weber jets, emulsion tubes, airbleeds, etc. After the mods to the carb were completed, it was flowbench tested and flowed 962 cfm@28 inches of mercury. The intake is a Mopar Performance M1 single plane racing unit, further modified by TMP carbs. The runners were extended along the bottom of the plenum, and the plenum was enlarged by the addition of an open spacer. An MSD 6AL ignition, and Chrysler electronic distributor was installed, and the custom advance curve was dialed in by TMP. The heads are cast iron 440 magnum, and have been extensively ported. The heads have stock diameter magnum valves, but are stainless steel. Induction hardened seats were installed, and a 5-angle valve job was performed. The head work was also done by TMP. A custom ground, mushroom tappet cam was installed. The specs are 272/282@.050", with .585/.610 lift.Lobe center is 112 degrees. The cam is installed 4 degrees advanced. Ron Roland of R-Sport in Woodland Hills, Ca. built the custom stepped headers with 1-7/8 into 2-inch primaries and flowmaster 4-2-1 3.5-inch diameter collectors. The engine was dyno tested at Sanderson Race engines after all the tuning was completed....Peak Horsepower was 563@6820 rpm. Upon installation, the truck was outfitted with a 3" dual exhaust system. Flowmaster Delta series 3 chamber mufflers were utilised. a custom x-pipe crossover was also installed. The cooling system uses a D-700 four core radiator (huge), a Milidon aluminum water pump, 4-derale 16" electric fans (two push, two pull), and water wetter. The oiling system uses a hemi oil pump, milidon 8 qt "off road" oil pan, Mopar Performance windage tray, and a milidon kit that re routes the oil from the pan to the pump. This bypasses some nasty 90 degree bends in the stock mopar oil system. The oil is Amsoil series 2000 20w-50 racing oil, and I also use the Amsoil bypass oil filtration system.

Wow, it has been a while since i was here at the site last. 5 years? I am blown away by all the positive response to my truck. Thanks for the many compliments. The truck is currently being "redone", with a nitrous-injected 528 CID crate hemi/727 torqueflite combo waiting to be installed. A custom-made reverse-rotation Dana 60 front axle (with arb locker) is on its way. Newly-fabbed, beefier drivelines will accompany the new axle. In addition, the divorced NP-205 is getting very tired, and will be replaced with a completely-refurbished married version. This stuff may sound extreme to some, but the hemi has dynoed at over 700 Hp (on the motor) and over 900 hp (on the bottle). A new power-assisted cross-steering system (no more bumpsteer!)is going in with the new front axle. The pearl white paint will be gone, and in its place the factory-original "desert turquiose" color will return. The front and rear bumpers are going to be replaced with factory-original units (chromed), and all the original "power wagon", "dodge" and "w-100" emblems will be put back on the truck. It will still have a winch, but that will be hidden as well as upgraded to a warn 12,000 lbs unit. The stereo and gauges are coming out, and the interior will be restored to bone stock. In keeping with the theme that is being laid out here, the crate hemi will be painted hemi orange and the chrome valve covers replaced with black crinkle finish units, circa 1968. It will have a factory mopar-looking air cleaner with the era correct "426 hemi" decals. I'll post more pics as things progress. Right now, the "beast" is in primer, motor-and-trannyless, no front axle, the bumpers are off, and the front sheetmetal is waiting to be re-installed. Again, thanks for the awesome comments, cant wait to get the "beast" back on/off the road!
