Tuning the S-AFC:
This is what I have put together from reading forums and doing my own S-AFC tuning.
Use this guide as just that a guide, every car is different, the tuning methods are about the same but the final values will be unique to your car and setup.
No Pocketlogger/DSM link - This method totally relies on O2 sensor readings and keeping an eye on your EGT gauge.
1) You must first set your desired boost, it is usually good to set it a little lower than what you are actually looking for because an easy way to lean out if your running too rich is to turn the boost up a bit.
2) Setting up the S-AFC, get the thing wired and in place, if you have no other means to monitor your voltage then do the "blue wire mod", you will then be able to monitor the 02 voltage in the sensor check screen of the S-AFC, turn the key in the ON position and let the S-AFC turn on, using the arrow keys locate the Main Menu - There you will see 1. Monitor 2. Setting 3. ETC, choose etc. then 1. sensor type, scroll down to 4. Karman and select it. Next go back to the etc menu and choose 2. Car Select you will choose 4 under Cyl. and arrow up for Thr. go back to the main menu.
Now select 2. Setting and then 3. Th - Point you will then see Lo and Hi set the Lo to 30% and the Hi to 80% what this does is when you finally get to setting your low and high throttle corrections is it uses the low throttle settings exclusively for anytime your throttle is open less than 30% between low and high throttle it will average the lo correction for that RPM and the Hi correction for that RPM and anytime the throttle is open more than 80% it will use the High settings exclusively.
Now you will want to go back to the setting menu and select Ne-point you will now see a list Ne1 - Ne8 and a corresponding RPM, since the redline for our cars is 7200 having any correction above that is useless so you will want to set the Ne points as this: 1k,2k,3k,4k,5k,5.5K,6K,7K
Go back to the setting menu and select 1. Hi-thrtl now you will see a graph that will all be set to 0 across the board. If you are using the 550cc injectors go ahead and set this to -10% across the board this will give you a good starting point.
Go back to the setting menu and do the same for Lo-thrtl .
3) This is best / safest if it is done with 2 people, one to keep an eye on things and the other to drive the car. you will now start the car and let it warm up, once it is warm you can go and take the RPM's up to 1K hold it there for a second and watch your O2 sensor voltage. Here is a table of acceptable 02 voltages and their corresponding octane ratings.
On 91 octane gas you will want .94-.95v If you are at a higher altitude then lower voltage is OK.
On 92 octane gas you will want .94v
On 93-94 octane gas you can get away with .92v
Depending on the octane that you are running in your car begin to either add fuel (bringing the %correction closer to zero) or subtracting fuel (further way from zero). Keep an eye on your EGT gauge you will not want to pass 1600F. Repeat this for the rest of the Ne-points letting the car settle at the RPM before tuning.
Here is where the second person comes in handy, you will need to make a series of hi-thrtl pulles in order to correctly set the high thrtl %corrections. This tuning is done the same as the low throttle tuning.
