1967 Pontiac Catalina Ventura
I don't have too many digital shots of the car when it was together, but I have a lot from when my friends and I pulled the 400ci (6.7 liters) V8 so that I might increase its smog creation properties.
I've already started rebuilding the engine and It's pretty killer. So far I've polished the crank, bored it .030 over, baked and bead blasted the whole mess. I've CNC ported the iron 72cc heads and fitted new valves, 2.11 intake and 1.89 exhaust. It has an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Edelbrock 850 carb, and beefy forged 10.1:1 flat top pistons from Speed-Pro. The valvetrain consists of a comp cam, .490 intake .512 exhaust, comp 1.6:1 roller rockers and TRW moly pushrods with hydraulic lifters. I've 1 5/8 inch primary headers. They feed into 3 inch collectors and true duals with H-Pipe. Up next is a Super Powershot nitrous system. I can't wait until dragway 42 opens in the spring.
Until then Take in these pictures of the engine's final days as a sleepy stocker.
This is what the motor looked like before I started. Shiny, but too slow.
Kevin goes after the fan.
Baker attempts to rid the cooling system of fluids. He's good at blowing, I'm told.
I demonstrate the proper method fpr removing those pesky old spark plug wires.
I go after the tranny lines while Kevin shows the motor mounts who's boss.
