This is my pride and joy, a 1957 Dodge Royal Lancer. I purchased her in May of 2003 and had it shipped to my home in Missouri from Nebraska. She just rolled over 80,000 miles and still wears her original paint (Tropical Coral and Glacier White) as well as retaining all of her original interior. She is powered by a 325 ci V8 and moves with a 3-speed, push-button, Torqueflite transmission.

She was designed by the now famous Virgil Exner. The Chrysler models of 1957 were revolutionary at the time and really sent GM and Ford scrambling to re-design their cars for '58 and '59. All told there were 257,488 Dodges of all models made in 1957 (production numbers for each model such as Coronet, Royal and Custom Royal do not exist.) The photo below shows Mr. Exner looking over the fin of a 1957 Dodge.

Here is a rear shot of my Dodge. I just love the classic styling of these "forward-look" fins! Nothing says the "'50's" like they do.

Imagine this in your rear view mirror!

Here is a not-so-good shot of the interior. I have a roll of exactly matching cloth from SMS Interiors just waiting to go in. For its age, the interior is in great shape, but the cloth on the driver's seat is getting a little thin!

A final parting shot...Just can't beat those fins!

All I have done to her since her arrival is have the oil changed, a lube job, a new battery, and I have had the exhaust system rebuilt with new Flowmaster mufflers - she sounds great! Since these pictures were taken I have also added reproduction bias-ply 2 1/4" wide whitewalls from Coker Tires and I have painted the rims in a matching coral. I have been lucky enough to snag a set of original 1957 Dodge 4-Bar Lancer Spinner hubcaps as well, and they will be on for cruising this summer!

Here is a vintage ad for a '57 Dodge almost identical to mine - this is how mine will look with the new hubcaps installed with the painted wheels and wide whites.
