1. Introduction (this page)
2. First pictures and interior mods ...under construction

Stazik's 1998 Mitsubishi EclipseAs for the background, this is my third GSX. Two of previous ones were bought in Russia, where I live right now. The first one was green 2G made in 1996. The car was driven pretty hard before I got it and I could hardly repair it as things were getting out of order everyday day. The performance of the car was pretty poor, but it still allowed me to get into an accident, crashing not only that eclipse, but three other cars as well. After the accident I couldnt afford any car for the next year and a half, then I bought my second GSX A/T that was more than jukebox, rather than a car. That magneto-grey 2G was awesome, not just because of color, sound system with golden wires and sound damping all over the car, but it also was made in 1997, therefore had restyling font and rear bumpers and headlights. Unfortunately the car was too heavy with this bad sound install, in addition to automatic transmission and poor service over the years in Russia as well as taking in mind that both my cars had about seventy thousand miles on them, this one did not run good enough either, that forced me to sell this car couple of months after purchase.

Since then I spent eleven months Stazik's 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipselooking for my dream car, knowing in advance that it is going to be 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. Of course one day I found it. The car was on ebay, and although it was red (the color that I dont like particularly) I decided to buy it no matter what. This GSX cost me a fortune not only of money, but also of time. I flew all the way from Moscow to New Yorkand then to South Carolina (where I bought the car). Some basic maintenance was made over there by a dealer, but then they put Valvoline oil in the car that made lifters start ticking right from the start. I drove all the way up to Boston, to meet some friends, then a couple of days later to New Jersey where the car was put on a ship for sailing to Finland and I flew back home. Three-four weeks later the car has arrived in Finland and so had I for picking it up. After eight hundred kilometers (about five hundred miles) I was at home, in Moscow. So it turned out that I bought the car in April 2003 and two months later it arrived at a new home. Summer is pretty short in this part of the world and I only have four or five months for fun driving around a city per year. You may think that all-wheel-drive allow safe and fast driving in winter and that is true, no doubt, but let me make a photo of these mud-covered Russian roads I bet you dont want your sports car be with dirt and snow all over the engine bay and underbody parts. So the 2003 season was a short ride for me, I rolled around the city quite seldom, mostly I was buying parts (I didnt have enough time for the car, since was working hard), and preparing for the winter, when I parked the car in a warm and dry garage to start working on it, getting ready for the spring 2004.

On these photos the car is parked outside the sellers house in South Carolina. I made a lot of pictures, when came to the USA to pick up the car, but unfortunately I lost my camera somewhere in the middle of the trip, so these pictures is everything I was left with.

The car came with 41k miles, scratched Momo shift knob, Greddy Evo exhaust, Greddy blow-off valve, some custom upper IC pipe, front and rear strut bars, and I guess with all the free mods (BCS restrictor removed, IC outlet splash shield ripped off, etc)

Follow the link to the next page to see how the car looked like, when I finally got to the garage with the camera.

Hey man, i noticed you saying the Sparco Fighter seat was really uncomfortable, is that only because it was mounted high in your car, or because it wasnt reclinable? i hear that without being reclinable its alomost like you are standing up straight, is that how it is? thanks
