I took the dash pad and back off so that I could install the stereo much easier and clean it up cause it still had the old guys cig stuff everywhere in there and was stinkin.
Dash has a few small cracks so I'm planning on filling them and covering it with some fabric. Update: I said to heck with the fabric and just painted it.
Shot of the dash apart and stuff hanging out everywhere.
Just another pic of the dash apart.
I painted the black part of the dash another kind of black to match the rest of my Interior, Looks much better than the photo.
I don't know for all years but in my 87 this is the part that makes the awful noise when the door is open or the lights are left on.. I have disconnected it years ago. I just thought I would take a few shots so ppl knew where and what to look for if they wanted to remove it as well.
I am not sure what all it does but I haven't noticed any negative effects for removing it.
This is what is located in the center of the dash on my truck and as far as I can tell it run the transfer case cause it always makes noise when I hit any of the 4x4 buttons.
The SAME dash as above after I put some fiber glass filler and epoxy on it and painted it.
Shot of same spot as the cracked one above.
Its ready to go back in.
