In my opinion, 1966 was the best year ever for the Ford Mustang. Forty years later, this is my car in September 06 after finishing a two year restoration. Just like us, a lot has happened to this car in forty years. So all you 40 year olds out there, take heart! You still look great too, you know who you are!

Emberglo 66 GT Fastback

Factory GT with rare Emberglo paint, only available on Mustangs in 66.

This is an "A" code 289 4v, automatic, power steering, front disk brakes, factory AC.

Car is stock with a few chrome pieces under the hood added by the PO and a 10 disc CD player stashed in the trunk.
I owned a nearly identical car in the 80s but sold it. Decided to find another a few years ago and the search for this combination took months. Probably paid more than I should but life is short so what the heck.

Luxury interior (Pony)is Emberglo/Parchment. Only about 7 thousand luxury fastbacks were built in 66. Of that, how many were factory GTs? Of those, how many were this unusual color? Couldn't have been many. A rare combination that has always been my favorite Mustang, back home again!

Here is a shot of the carpeted fold down rear seat, lots of room to haul stuff and the back panel opens to the trunk.

The Pony panels on the front seats of this interior have been dyed the correct dark brown color. The replacement seat covers available on the market do not have this color.

I use an aftermarket "Humphugger" as an armrest. These things are great for traveling. Some people like to put a running horse on the front, I chose to use the GT badge.
