My car story.
I bought the Corona from a little old lady (really) for $600 in 1989. It had 42,000 miles, no radio, and the original tires. The first thing I had to do was put in a stereo, Alpine, and speakers, two 12' Pyle Drivers brigged on a 300watt amp, a 5' Pyle midrange and a tweeter on a 150watt amp.
I'm 6'3" tall and the driver's seat didn't go back far enough to be totaly comfordable so I got seats and tires from a Supra and put them in. Chicago winters rusted the undercarridge but not too bad. A friend of mine was able to take care of it and paint it Metalic Blue.
I moved into the basement apartment of my parent's building,(cheap rent and a garage space in Wrigleyville.) bought a truck for work and eventualy stopped driving the Corona. I got married and moved into my parent's house for a year to save money for a house, but kept the Corona in the garage at the apartment building.
After we bought the house I tried to get the Corona but it wouldn't start. I figured the gas had gummed up so I had it towed to my house and stored it in the new garage until I had time to work on it.
Well, work got busy, I started rehabing the house, two kids and nine years later I'm cleaning out the garage and rediscovering my favorite car.
My wife says I should sell it but I don't know what it's worth.
I do have alot of work to do on the house. This spring I have to replace the siding, build a porch and deck on the back, as you can see from the pics. So it would be a year or so until I have time.
I'm not a mechanic but I'm good with my hands, I have the books on this car, and it looks like a simple engine to work on.
The interior is in good condition. The dashboard and doors are excelent. The carpet is garbage.
The back seat is original and in excelent condition. I lost the original front seats and the Supra seats are garbage.
The headliner is excelent. Overall it's a good start for a project car. So I keep going back and forth, should I keep it? Should I sell it? I'll probably keep it. It's less effort to push it back in the garage than it is to try to sell it. And like I said, I don't have time right now.
