Here are some pics of my 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. I know that these cars arent the fastest or most desirable car ever produced, but when I was young these cars captured my heart. I love the style and love almost every way of building one up. I like them in stock original form, pro touring form, dropped and on 20" wheels, raised on 24" wheels, stripped of all bare essentials and turned full drag and even the nice daily driver cars with just some different wheels and loud exhaust.
My 88 SS has been modded a little and I am leaning on the pro-touring side of things. When I bought the car it was bassicly stock except for the dual exhaust, headers and Weld wheels. The engine had been recently replaced when we bought it so when I decided to swap on a TPI I decided to leave the 305 in it, I just couldn't brig myself to remove a perfectly good engine. So when it came crunch time I decided to pull the flat tappet cam and installed a used L-98 TPI 350 cam and roller lifters. I installed a used 1985 Camaro TPI unit and bought a new wiring harness from S10wildside from Ebay and installed it on the engine deleting the 9th injector but keeping it a MAF setup. I also bought a 88-92 F-body serpentine setup and used it on the car, I feel that they clean things up a bit underhood by moving the AC compressor to the passenger side. I used a radiator lid from a Buick GN to hold the radiator in, plus it gave me a great place to mount the 1996 Dodge Intrepid radiator fans, they are bassicly the Ramcharger fans and fit perfectly between the radiator tanks on the stock radiator.
This past winter I stalled a World Class T-5 transmission I got from a 90 Camaro RS that I parted out. Very awesome upgrade IMO.
The hood I got from a friend, it is from US hoods, looks very good on the car but my body guy had to do a bunch of work on it to look decent.
For the suspension I have new Eibach drop springs now installed along with Monroe Sensatrac shocks and new sway bar end links and sway bar bushings(Moog) and Bell Tech 2" drop spindles. Future plans include new bushings all around and BMR rear control arms, upper and lower, along with some rear disk brakes from a 1995 Firebird Formula that is in the junkyard and possibly a B-body 12" brake swap or dual piston ZQ8 Blazer brakes up front.
Here are some very recent pictures of the car.
Recent engine picture, lots of upgrades since the last pictures
