Page 2: Pre-Body Shop Pics and Body Work

The entire car went through a major overhaul in 2003. The original paint was rusting, chipping, peeling, and looked absolutely terrible. Over the course of a few days, I scraped off all the old paint and tons of bondo and my dad primed it. Then it was sent to a body shop and had all the body work re-done, the roof un-dented (yes, a technical term I'm sure), and sprayed with a nice jet black.

This is how it looked before it made it to the body shop for a some much needed work. I only have two pictures of the whole car before I started stripping paint off because I wasn't particularly fond of the way it looked.

Probably the first pic I took of the car. This was before I had done any work to it, still had the original paint scheme with the stripe.

The first summer after I got the car, I stripped off nearly all of the paint from the front fenders back. This car had been through a few paint jobs and had a lot of bondo, so it wasn't very easy going. The roof was also caved in slightly on the driver's side. After the paint was scraped off, my dad sprayed on a few layers of primer and it was off to the body shop.

Actually painted the trunk before sending it to the body shop, did the body work on it too. It was quite a mess, as the previous owner had to braze the truck lock hole back onto the trunk for some reason....

Had a little run in (literally) with the garage last year, saying I was pissed off at the time would have been the understatement of the year. The rough concrete scuffed through paint, primer, and even into plastic in some small areas. Anyway, finally got some time to fix it up a bit, luckily plastic doesn't rust!

The only pic I have of the damage before sanding. On the right, work in progress.

More work, and the finished product. Still may do a skim coat of bondo yet.

Taped out, primed, and painted (temporary paint).

She's atleast presentable for now. This is a temp fix and it'll look much better once I compound off the overspray and polish the new paint up some. (new pics next week 9/23) Hopefully during one of my longer breaks from school I'll do it up properly.
