Dyno run timeline:
^^Dyno runs with iON FMIC, Injen CAI, Magnus DP-back exhaust, and stock PCM. Boost was set to 10psi for run 1, which yielded 207.3whp/234.5wtq, and 7.5psi for run 2, which put out 200.3whp/213.7wtq. Notice the untuned AFR curve and how much room for improvement there is.
^^Dyno runs with iON FMIC, Injen CAI, and Magnus DP-back exhaust (like above), but with the addition of a MPI tuner. This was my first attempt at dyno tuning the car, boost was set at 10psi. Chart shows untuned run (red) vs. tuned run (blue). I pulled 5 extra degrees of timing at the max tq point from the untuned dyno chart to be safe, and that is why the relation of whp to wtq is vastly different. Simply tuning the upper spectrum increased the whp by 12.8 which brought it up to 220.1whp/215.1wtq.
^^Dyno runs with iON FMIC, Injen CAI, Magnus DP-back exhaust, and the MPI tuner. The catch here is that the MPI tuner is now almost totally disabled. It is controlling timing, and the secondary 45lb injectors in the charge pipe, but it no longer does anything to the stock injectors. The new setup was retuned for 12psi on a new GT28RS turbo. Run 11 (red) put out 234.9whp/246.6wtq, and as you can see, the relation of wtq to whp came back up with a more aggresive tune in the 4k RPM area. A Mental Addiction tubular exhaust manifold was then added for run 16 (blue), and it shows the gain from the manifold. This new combo produced 258.2whp/253.4wtq. No tuning was done to fully optimize the manifold, as I wanted to get a true measure of the gains from the manifold itself. The boost level and mpi tuner were left untouched between run 11 and run 16, so the manifold itself produced a 23.3 max whp and 6.8 max wtq gain. A gain of 30whp was seen from 6000RPM to redline.
^^Dyno runs at 12psi, with the addition of a Mental Addiction FMIC kit. The Injen intake and iON FMIC were removed, and the new equipment was installed. Intake is now a SRI with A'PEXi filter. This run produced 263.4whp/253wtq, so a 5whp gain was seen by switching to Mental Addiction's kit.
^^Dyno runs at 12psi, with the addition of a Mental Addiction prototype 3 inch downpipe. This turned the entire exhaust into a 3" system, from turbine outlet to muffler tip. The stock downpipe was very restrictive on the inside of the first bend, where it measured less than 2" ID. A SPEC 7lb aluminum flywheel was added as well, and this made the output shoot up to 277.4whp/274.1wtq. The car was beat on for 6 straight runs one after the other, and never put out less than 275whp and 272wtq. On the 6th and final run it actually put out the highest whp of the session. I should also mention that the garage where this was taking place had a ambient temp in the high 90's that day, so that shows how efficient the new IC kit was performing.
