PAGE 8: ENGINE BAY PREP, PAINT & EXTERNAL WASTE GATE PAGE 9: ENGINE REASSEMBLY, MICROTECH LTX8 ECU, POLISHED BITZPAGE10: ENGINE AND GEARBOX BACK INI've been busy moving into my new house and getting everything estabilished, so it's been a while since I touched the O'l Girl.Last weekend I pulled the motor and gearbox out, along with all the other bits and pieces in the engine bay, so I could get it painted. I dropped it off at MRRX3's workshop on Tuesday so he could get it prepped for the paint. I've been looking at it for so long now that I decided I would'nt be happy if the engine bay wasn't painted aswell. The rest of the car looks mint, but the engine bay looked a bit crudy. Should have it back in a week or so. I wan't to have it up and running before my wife has our baby boy in June. So I better be pulling my finger out........I've also bought a 45mm Turbosmart External Wastegate, that I don't have a turbo for, but it was a wicked bargain so I had to have it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I finally got my car back from the painters. They only had to paint the engine bay three times, as they couldn't match the paint. When I had the car painted I asked them to make up some extra paint because I new there would be something else later on that I would want to get painted. They made up the extra paint, but then the panel beater threw it out when he had a clean out. So consequently I have a six pack engine bay, not a two pack!My car is finally in my garage for the first time. Now I've just got to find the time to put it all together. The photos are a bit dark because I took them before I went to work this morning.Freshly painted bay. It looks so much better.I also picked up a new steering wheel and boss kit, as the old Mazda Bravo one was looking a bit dated.
