3-11-04 - APR dp, Milltek cb exhaust.

First thing to do: put it up on stands......

I had to cut through the factory exhaust to get it off. Fortunately, VW made this very easy.
The resonator was held up by a brace and clamped to the catalytic converter with a simple slip-on clamp.
Thanks for the arrow. I'm glad someone knows which direction the exhaust is supposed to flow. ;-)

Then my faithful friend, John, fought a good battle with the factory hangers and eventually won.

Here he is again unclipping the electrical connectors for the oxygen sensors. I have done this to a couple of domestic cars, and believe me when I say VW rocks!

We decided to take no chances.

We found it was allot easier to take the sensors out with the down pipe. (like I said, Go VW!)
Here is the new/used APR dp compared to the old one. Much smoother and larger diameter to boot.
AAAAggggghhh! Someone turned the canoe upside-down!

Man, that is a big exhaust flange!

Here is the new guy, complete with sensors.

The new resonator.
(yeah I thought about it,
but I didn't try it)
(wow, factory Supra exhaust in the background. My exhaust feels outperformed.)
Did I forget something?

There it is.....
Old vs New
All in all, it took me 4.5 hrs, and I had no real troubles. The only casualty: I scratched my bumper loading the old exhaust, Do'!
I love the sound of the Milltek cat-back system: it rumbles at idle, growls nicely at WOT, and makes very little noise while cruising.
Props to VW and Milltek for making my job easy. And thanks to John for keeping me sane!
