SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota Starlet This is the car that we have been building for 12 months to compete in WA , it currently holds the WA record of 159.9Db. WA does not run Termlab yet so this score is not official but we have done 153Db on it and in SS1-2. 2004 we will be on the new meter and in SS1-2 we have to beat 155ish to hold Aus record. The car is more than capable , just need more voltage and hopefully the amps will hold as they seem to be the weak link at the moment
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletPhoto shoot in Kal on the salt lakes was for upcoming issue of Hot4s , you can see Rupid in the foreground(he holds the deck) and a few of the awards from the year
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletPhoto shoot in Kalgoorlie for Hot4s by Ric McDowell who has done alot of cars for us.
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletCar on display at [CABIN] 03 this show was the cars first outing and posted 156.5Db with only 2 amps.
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletCrowd around for attempt @ 160Db which we now had 4 amps in and managed 159.8Db
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletAll hands on the car for every last Db at Morley HiFi where we once again did 159.9Db , so frustrating
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletJono on the window tryin for everything but no luck just would not go th extra god damn point one !!!
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletOn charge with dry ice and ready for a burp , nice big charger and 4 extra batteries and still once again 159.9 Farrrrrk !!!
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota Starlet4 RAC batteries 650CCA each , these are in permanently and the other 4 plug in for comps.Still running 12v system but realy needs to be upgraded to 16V as the amps are running at 0.5ohm each and are making massive current draw
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota Starlet4 VR1000Ds running 2 Kicker L7 15" subs , making around 6000wrms.Box they are mounted to is 375L and is still removable from the car , this car is driven every day and to go to comps it does 1500km round trips once a month
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletThis is what 160Db does to a pussy , damn cats will try anything , lucky they have nine lives. You can see the bracing in the box which i think is costing us Dbs , there is some more on the inside but now that we have strengthend the outside i think we can renove them and hopefully it will help. This photo also gives you an idea of how big the port is.
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletYou can see the top sub , the other is directly below , also parts of the trim that has been redone in purple and orange. The port on the drivers side measures 600 x 400 and is 350 long , it equates to a peak of 64Hz in the car.We painted the inside red to match the exterior of the car.
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletLeft door houses an 8" and 5 1/4" splits with the team logo KAL SPL on the doors, they are made of 12mm MDF and the doors themselves are fully Dynamated. Finished in grey vinyl they used to match the rest of the interior before we painted it
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletDrivers door with cover removed to show off the front stage , there is covers that push in for a flush finish that are trimmed in black speaker cloth for a stealth finish.
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletOn display @ PAS 03 , this show was so frustrating for us , we were sure it would do 160 as we had charged everything and everything worked and still we only got 159.8 !!!!
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletNew 16" chrome wheels were fittewd after the stockies with hubcaps became a little boring , ok very very boring , dont these look cool , the back sits a bit high in this photo cause there is no amps or batteries in the back and these springs had just been custom made.
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletBest reading in testing that day at PAS , the best the car has done is 159.9Db in competition , having started the car wanting to get 150Db it has gone well past our expectations , having our own meter helps alot to find all the extra Dbs hiding.
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletJono recieving another first place trophie , this time he actually got to keep it as the league we were in ended at the finish of 2003 , it now sits proudly in his room collecting dust.
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletGetting highest SPL @ Kalgoorlie home town, was good not to get beaten on our home ground but unfortunately a faulty mic put stop to any big numbers that day and everyone was down by 4Db.
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota Starletand yet another one @ the Finale for the year , wont be seeing anymore of those RBCAD trohies that we love so much.
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota Starlet This is our PB so far but we have not given up yet there is lots more to come !!
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletThe team shirts at one of the sound offs , the owner on the left the installer on the right and the team cheerleader in the middle.
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletWe tried a couple of Crossfire XT15s in here just to see if we could better our score and be damned , we got exactly the same score , I mean 159.8 with both !! You can see the pretty trim panels we made up so we could put a round sub in a square hole , these thigns sound awsome and would like to have a couple just to keep playin with.
SPL_NIKI's 1998 Toyota StarletSet up @ a sound off ready to go , on charge with dry ice , also Rupid is in the foreground , he does a great job of holding the deck for us. When we do a run we have the power harness in the boot to plug in and then just swap one set of RCAs so that we dont have to use the front deck as it wont play at that level.
