INTAKE MANIFOLD MODS
While the engine was getting rebuilt, I took to the intake manifold with a die grinder and a port and polish kit that I ordered from Summit Racing in the USA. I wanted to clean it up a bit, polish the top of the manifold and give the ports a quick going over.
The top of the Manifold came out Fucking Sweet as. I put some mad hours into getting it that polished. All i did was buy a sanding wheel for my die grinder and took off the casting bit by bit. I started with an 80 grit pad, working down to a 120 grit and finished off the sanding with a 320 grit pad.
Once I was happy that all the casting was gone and I had a flat surface, I used a 3M scotch bright polishing pad( it's like a hard scouring pad, using oil to lubricate as you go, it does the trick).
Once I got rid of all the sanding marks with the 3M pad, I used wet and dry sand paper, starting with 600 grit and finishing with 1500 grit.
Once that was done, I used a cloth polishing wheel on my drill and polished them till shiney. To keep it looking good, I use Autosol polishing paste.
As you can see the ports were a mess, I put about 30 hours into the manifold in total. Im quite happy with the end result, the polished manifold looks great in the engine bay with all the polished piping and rocker covers.
While i had it all apart, I polished the throttle body neck piece with the port and polish kit. It didnt take that long to get it Pretty smooth.
