Sold the SSEi due to low income, then one week after I sold it (for way below book value I got a 23% raise). So I got stuck looking for another one and after some searching I found this. It's not supercharged but it's my favorite color with my favorite original rims. It's a 1998 Bonneville SSE.
Here's my brother's new (to him) 1998 Oldsmobile LSS. SCHAWEET ride. Has more features than my SSE, but he doesn't have the Heads Up Display or the chrome rims, but he has the Monsoon CD/Cassette Stereo and I have the BOSE CD system.
Painted the honeycomb area of my grille silver/chrome, put 'PONTIAC' mud flaps on the rear, chrome Pontiac arrowhead decal on the rear windshield, and a wind deflector on the sunroof for the looks mods.
Chrome grille.
Chrome/silver painted brake drums.
My new Prime 15 spoke rims (need tires). Just bought them today (6/18/04) for dirt cheap.
And the center cap from the factory rims fit perfect!!!
For the performance mods I put a 3.4" Magnuson pulley on the SC, a Cold Air Intake (CAI) with HUGE K&N cone filter, Magnaflow Wide Open muffler with dual/dual chrome twin rolled-lips exhaust tips, 180* t-stat with two 1/16" bleeder holes to keep the coolant temp consistant), and modified the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).
Hope to have pics up by this coming weekend (3/27/04) of the mods. May have more mods done by that time (I may have a trick up my sleeve yet) ;). Hope you will all like the mods.
Here are a couple pics I took just after I got home from the wash. Had to pull the 1953 Chrysler New Yorker out of the garage so I could get the SSEi in for a tune-up. Sorry about not polishing the paint and especially the chrome on the 1953 before taking the pics.
And some close-ups.
Here is a really crappy pic of the boost guage (far right) for those who don't believe I was hitting 10+ psi on a bone stock drivetrane (ok, so I had gutted the airbox, good for 1/2 hp). I had just let off so the needle was on it's way back to vacuum, but it still was in the red. Stock boost is supposed to be 7.5 psi, but I've been getting anywhere from 8-11 psi boost and sometimes roughly in the neighborhood of 11.5-12 psi boost.
Here's a couple pics I took on Valentine's day.
Oh, and I like these Bonneville's soo much I decided to put it in Black and white. :)
Some paint huh?
It's too cold out now (was -6* F for a high today 1/5/04) and I'm kinda tight on $$$ so for right now the only mods are Eurolight blue low-beam bulbs, Crank-case vent filter in place of the oil-filler cap, and I also gutted the airbox.
Once it's warmer and I get a couple dollars I am going to put a 180* t-stat, Magnaflow Wide Open muffler, NGK V-power plugs, Taylor Spiro Pro wires on, CAI, auxilary tranny cooler, remove resonator from the exhaust, and remove the MAF screen from the Throttle body.
Later this spring I am going to do a crossover pipe/TB heat shield, 3.4" pulley, Throttle body spacer, Gatorback belts, and possibly a set of 1.6 rockers.
Here's my new ride. It's a black 1999 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi. It is powered by the infamous L67 Supercharged Series II 3800 v6 engine.
I am the second owner and am very proud to be.
My old (still own) 1994 Pontiac Bonneville SLE still lives on and will hopefully be sold to a good home soon so as to make payments on "Black Boost" a little more affordable.
Anyhow here are some pics I just took tonight. Sorry they aren't very good quality. I took them at the car wash after a spray down. Hope to have some fresh daylight pics up here soon.
Thanks, and enjoy.
Here's a couple cool light beam pix:
