This is may 97 Expedition
I was getting the PO401 (Insufficeint EGR Flow) code after the CHECK ENGINE light came on. After replacing the EGR valve, DPFE Sensor, and spraying into every hose I could find with carb cleaner to clear the code, nothing worked until:
This is a pic (top view)of the intake plenium (with throttle body removed). On the right is the EGR Valve.
I then sprayed liberal amounts of carb cleaner into the port that the EGR attaches (the center port)
There was quite of bit of 'gook and ucky stuff' clogging the two ports here seen at the top of the plenium (forgot the before pics). I used a screwdriver to break it loose since it was pretty hard.
So if you are having problems with the PO401 code on your 1997-2004 Expy try this first.
