New Daily driver added to the collection!!
79 LTD2

This is my 1967 Ford Galaxie XL. I purchased the car in 2000 for $2400. It still had the original 390 4v in it and came with an extra 429 out of a 68 Thunderbird.

I drove the car around for a couple years saving money to build the 429. Then the 390 decided to take a break and bent 2 pushrods and shattered a valve spring.

Goodies for the 429.
Modified FE mounts to fit 429

Rebuilt C6 tranny

Converted drum brakes to disc in the front. Used a 79 Thunderbird as my donor car.

UPDATED-2/23/04
I started setting the motor in my car finally and ran into a couple snags. I had to notch the frame mounts to get my engine to fit in the original FE mounts as you can tell in my third pic. I still have to get it all bolted up tight and get the tranny crossmember bolted in but I am slowly getting there.
I realized I have never taken any pics of my interior so I took some today. I know it is a little dirty but nothing a little cleaning wont take care of.
I took my console out due to I was planning on putting a B&M Zgate shifter in the car but I wound up rebuilding the original shifter because I did not want to cut the console to make the other one work. So I painted the console while I had it out. Here are some pics.
Here are the pics of the console installed with the shifter selector I made out of plexi glass.

Here are some more pics of my engine install.
Here is an underneath look at my Crites Headers.

Here are some more pics of the headers from the top side.
I ran into some trouble fitting my Galaxie tranny mount underneath the tranny and got to digging around the garage and found an old 68 Ford Truck mount that was low enough to fit but too low so I had to make some spacers to make it work.
The spacers are made out of 1/8 inch thick 2 inch wide steel. I used 4 of them to get it the right hieght.

Ran into a problem with getting the vacuum hose on the control module but it was easily remedied. Just cut a notch out of the tranny mount.
Here are some updated pics of the progress of the engine.
UPDATED-5/8/04
I managed to break part of my linkage to the tranny but got it fixed at a local tranny shop for 5 bucks. Here is a pic of the part after it was fixed.

Here are some pics of the U joints and driveshaft.

I have her sitting on the ground now everything underneath is done. I set the hood on her to see if it would clear and it did. That was something I was really concerned about cause it looked like I was going to have to cut a hole in the hood for this new engine.
UPDATE6-22-04

UPDATE7-04-04
Here are the updated pics of my engine I still have a few things to do yet and things to redo but it is getting there. I am having a problem with the alternator belt coming off so I have been trying different belts, pulleys and brackets. As soon as I get this fixed I will be ready to cruise.

Here are some pics of the exhaust. I will have to jack it up and take some better pics here soon.
