Lada Sputnik Revolution 1.3 - LPG installation
___________________________________________________________________________________

As from mid March 2005 I have installed the Lovato LPG system in my Sputnik Revolution 1.3. Mainly because the gas is more than double cheaper than the petrol. The total cost for the installation costed me 320 euros with the small reservoir that fits instead of the reserve wheel. The reservoir can carry 33.5 litres of gas inside that gives you autonomy of over 300 kilometers. So, here's the installation you take a look.

goxxy's 1991 Lada SamaraThis is the complete engine with the LGP system installed. You can see most of the parts with extra hosing system (heating system for gas, disperser, two valves...).

goxxy's 1991 Lada SamaraThe main diffusor. This is where the gas being filtered and transferred through the gas valve comes to. The diffusor transfers the gas to the carburretor and into the cylinders.

goxxy's 1991 Lada SamaraYou can see the hosing system that goes from the petrol reservoir into the petrol pump and then into the petrol solenoid valve. This valve either stops or transfers the petrol into the carburretor. The valve is controlled from the switch inside the car (look a bit down).

goxxy's 1991 Lada SamaraThe gas solenoid valve. This little thing is also a filter for the gas. If the switch is on the 'gas' position, the valve lets the gas to the diffusor and further into the carburretor.

goxxy's 1991 Lada SamaraThe 'control panel' :) There are two switches - the left, black one is the one that controls the supply of either gas or petrol in the carburretor. If it's in the top position the car will run on gas, if in the bottom - on gasoline. The middle position stops both supplies, which you use when switching from gasoline back to the gas - the carburretor must empty all gasoline from the small reservoir inside the carburretor - not to allow mixing both supplies. The right switch is a 'choke' for gas. Before starting your car (if you're starting on gas) it is recommended that you spray a bit of gas inside the carb - with this switch.

goxxy's 1991 Lada SamaraThe trunk with the small reserve tire (which I got for my birthday - from my best friend), to use as less space as possible. Below the trunk carpet is the gas reservoir...

goxxy's 1991 Lada Samara...and here it is. The reservoir. It is czech made, around 3mm fat in the sides. Not possible to pierce or to deform it by any ordinary car crash. And remember that this IS LADA - tank amongst the cars. :)

goxxy's 1991 Lada SamaraHere's the reservoir with the hatch opened. Behind the hatch is the gas level indicator.
