Lada Sputnik Revolution 1.3 - news & announcements
___________________________________________________________________________________
Welcome to my car's personal page :) Here I'll try to explain you anything you want to know about my car and give you as much info and pictures as possible... An, of course, I'll tell you how much I love my car and how much I give my self to it. Enjoy!
News:
23.December 2008. A small and subtle, but very very cool addition to my Sputnik are small custom made badges to the car. The one is right beneath the "Sputnik" on the trunk lid saying "powered by Dizija" and another are small badges on the B poles, saying - "Sputnik 1.3". Check the rest here .
5.June 2008. Gathered with some of my friends from Lada Club Serbia in Belgrade. Only four cars, but enought to start with...
29.April 2008. I'm working on rebuilding the whole dashboard, inserting a refurbished one (which I'm also working on), repainted and lackiered. As soon as some of the photos have been taken, you'll be able to see it here. This is probably one of the last stages in upgrading the interior.
08.December 2007. I got together with Milan, my friend from Lada Club Serbia in Belgrade and we used this opportunitu to take a few shots of our beloved cars. You can see the rest here
15.September 2007. Lada Club Serbia had a small meeting in my town, so it was a chance to get together with the guys and have some chat. Here's a photo from the meeting, the rest are here .
And Sputnik was one of the attractions of this small meeting.
20.August 2007. Finally, my leather interior is 99% done. I still have some small things to fiddle with (paint the gray plastics around the seats to black and install them, and a few more), but meanwhile I have painted the rear brake drums in shiny metallic gray. Check them out in Fixes and Upgrades .
10.July 2007. Finished installing the new all four springs and new front shock absorbers. You can see the details of the work done - here , or simply check out the new photos of the Sputnik in the Exterior section . And I finally shot the new rear exhaust pot. Check that out too !
3.July 2007. At the moment, I'm finishing my front leather seats from Seat Cordoba 2005 and the mounting points from Lada are being welded to the new seats. Rear seats, the steering wheel, gearshift boot and handbrake boot have also been trimmed, so it's just the front ones left. Also, I'll change all four springs on Sputnik, which was a planned operation, whilst the unplanned is the installation of the new cooling radiator. The old one started dropping some liquid.
So, today - change springs, radiator, clean and tune up the carburettor, as well as line up the wheel axles. This all must be done within few days, as I'm preparing for a road trip of 2500km and the car needs to be in great shape for that :) And tomorrow - finished front seats.
Photos, soon. I'll document everything I can.
14.May 2007. Currently working on trimming Sputnik's interior in black / light-gray leather. Hopefully, I'll have more than just five photos to show you :) Also, I've changed whole rear exhaust to Real Sport exhaust pipe. More photos? Soon, don't worry... :)
14-15.April 2007. Biljana and I were in Vrsac for first Lada Club Serbia gathering. We had guests from Czech Republic and Bulgaria and had a great time. Here are just some of the photos, the rest are here
Sale's Niva and our beloved Sputnik behind
After the parade through the town, Sale and Biljana resting with Sputnik.
All the cars on the gathering.
And, of course, Biljana and I next to our Sputnik.
26.March 2007. Two weeks after the big change to my car's engine I have found some time to take new photos and even polish it. So, the new photos are at the top of the Exterior photo album page.
8-11.March 2007. I restored completely the engine, supplying it with new pistons, piston rings, new cylinder jackets, painting the block, head... Also, I have put on one size bigger rims and tires. Check out the Repairs, fixes and upgrades section for more.
9.February 2007. I bought new front seats for my Sputnik, they're from Seat Cordoba 2005, and they are about to be dressed in black / light gray leather. I can't wait for the new interior to be redone! Also, I added a new page for repairs, fixes and upgrades where I added a newly photos of my changes front brake discs. Hopefully, I'll be showing you new full leather interior ;)
29.December 2006. Just few days before the New Years eve I swapped my old carburretor for a new one. Now I cannot recognize my car! When I push the throttle, it goes like crazy!!!
17.December 2006. I had to change my starter, as the damn thing died after successfully working for 16 years :) Bosch really served well, but now I'm using a new Russian starter, for which I can find parts. I thought about rescuing the Bosch starter, but unfortunately there are no parts for it.
Also, I should change my engine oil in a day or two and should contact one guy for redoing the whole enterior in leather, swap the seats with Seat Ibiza's... We'll just have to wait and see...
27.September 2006. Few days ago (on 22rd September) I installed fog lights on my Sputnik, together with my mechanic. You can check out the whole story on this page . Also, there are some new pictures in the Interior and details section.
9.September 2006. I bought Hella's foglights FF75 for my Sputnik. One of these weekends, I'll go to my mechanic and have them installed. They're absolutely perfect, and I know they'll fit great under the newly painter front bumper.
21.August 2006. My car has been a bit refreshed with new gearbox oil, which was also cleaned inside / outside. I also changed rear brake shoes and hand brake cables. Yesterday I installed a small electrical component which dimms the lights when the doors are closed. Nice little gadget :)
15.June 2006. I have uploaded few new pictures of my car after the new paint job and with new chromed letters on the trunk door. Check them out here!
01.June 2006. Yesterday I bought in Portsmouth chromed letters, together combining the words "Lada" and "Sputnik". I cannot wait to come back home this Saturday (3rd June) to stick them on my newly painted rear door! Pictures? You'll get them, don't worry.
17.May 2006. While I'm in the UK, my car chasis mechanic will be doing some of the changes to my car. The biggest refreshment and change will be totally fixed and repainted roof, hood, rear door, front grille and black / chasis coloured bumpers which will be shiny. Let's wait and see for the results!
1.May 2006. I have changed some things to my car and the biggest is that I will do some paint job in few days - hopefully. Roof, hood, rear door (with those holes filled) and original bumpers painted in chasis/black color. Also, the car has run over 120.000 kilometers and the engine is still perfect. Simple oil and oil filter change, as well as sparkplugs, fuel and air filter does the work. Regular maintenance.
09.September 2005. New seat covers bought :) Hopefully, I'll deliver some photos to you soon. Just be patient...
31.August 2005. Bumpers were repainted, switches taken cared of and both new side mirrors mounted (old ones rusted inside pretty much...). Now comes the new hand sawed seat covers. Combination of black and whitesmoke. As soon as it's finished, I'll take some pictures and show them to you.
25.April 2005. Just planning. These few days, right after the weather gets better, I will repain the bumpers in black and will have to take care about the light switches on the doors. The rest is fine and working well :)
12.April 2005. Today I went to a local mechanih which truly does a great job with front-end wheel/axle alignement. He switched some parts and aligned the axles perfectly.
28.March 2005. Two more updates, of which I hope I will be able to take photos in the following weeks - a new gear shift handle and hand brake handle. They're both aluminium/leather and I think you'll love them when you see them installed. Two weeks age I installed LPG system in the car. Next big step are the seat covers.
25.February 2005. It's a damn bad weather here and I can't do any mods currently, and I want to. Anyways, they are being planned. I'll concentrate mostly on electronics (interior and some exterior lightning), music, central locking system and will change my seat covers. Pictures? As soon as possible.
16.December 2004. So it's been a while. The restauration process has been finished and the car is repainted. Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos yet, but in the following weeks I will so you could see how does my baby look now. I also replaced the CD reciever as my trusty 1300R DEH was stolen. This one is replaced by Pioneed P4600 MP MP3 reciever .
31.July 2004. Ok, as the poll showed (34% of you) - I should keep the car's original color. Within a week, I'll be taking te car to the repair shop and all the repairs and the painting will be finished within a week. Perfect!
21.July 2004. Currently having some small electrical problems... My interior light doesn't work and I will have to check the fuse box today. It isn't THAT important but it iritates. And the police took my driving licence on 28th June. I won't be driving until September 29. :)
02.June 2004. Few days ago, I've had some troubles and flet that the car isn't pulling the way it should. I sugeested right - clutch disc and clutch cover. Well, they lasted 'only' 100.000km. Together with this I decided to refresh the engine before I take Sputnik for chasis repairs. I am going to change some belts, filters, oil, tune the valves and flatten the engine head just a bit. Also, I will change the cylinder rings. All together, parts and mechanic ~ 300 €. The repair will be finished on Monday, 07. June.
