This is about my 1993 SW1's journey from an automatic Single Overhead Cam to a manual Twin Cam. The car was purchased in June of 2003 with the plans of doing a swap sometime in the future, but when it wouldn't pass the strict California emissions test in order to transfer ownership, it was decided to do the swap as soon as possible. Starting then I began gathering all the parts needed and getting the machine work done to do the swap. On December 18th 2003 and after 8 hours of work the engine was in and running.

Here is a picture of the SW1 just after starting the swap. The hood is off to ease the removal and installation of the engine. The fender and front fascia are still loosly attached because the fender had to be removed to install the TwinCam PCM to engine wiring harness. You can also see here the SL2 15" tear drop wheels and SL2 front and rear fascias.
The old SingleCam engine. It was very clean, but didnt run to well. Compression was Ok in cylinders one, three and four, but very low in cylinder number two. Upon disassembly of the engine it was noticed the the head was slightly warped and the number two piston had bad rings. But on a positive note, the main bearings and the rod bearings were in susprisingly good shape for having 235,000 miles on them.
The engine is out and ready to retire. Next we removed the accessories and sensors and transplanted them to the new engine.
The empty engine bay, ready for the Twin Cam engine.
Another shot of the empty engine bay. The manual transmission shift cables are installed along with the DOHC wiring harness and throttle cable.
